Commercial Description:
Named in honor of our founder Jeff’s bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer’s home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire’s appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name. Fat Tire won fans is in its sense of balance: toasty, biscuit-like malt flavors coasting in equilibrium with hoppy freshness.

Brewed in Fort Collins Colorado. Has a nice aroma that starts very sweet and caramely with doughy biscuit accents and hints of citrus. Also has a nice appearance that is a rich copper color and pours a smooth creamy white head. As far as taste goes, this is not my fav. It’s initial flavor is a quick flare of bitter hops immediately followed by a somewhat in your face caramely malt flavor that lingers on the pallet. This is a medium bodied beer that has a smooth rounded mouthfeel that caresses the pallet. This beer would go best with foods high in salts and starches that need a sweeter counterpart.

Thanks to JVD for this one Bottle poured into a pint glass produced a good two fingers worth of head on top of a clear amber body Aromas of bread malts and a light hop floral The taste of sweet malt with a slight hop finish fills your mouth. Good carbonation and crisp on the tongue Had to try this one after watching the beer movie An interesting take on an amber ale would drink it again if I could. A good solid brew

pours a light amber with a good off white head. Biscuity aroma, underlying ripe fruit hop. Flavour was sweet caramel and toasty malt. Growing bitterness in finish. Smooth and well balanced.

Very much a biscuity flavor. I’m amazed because it tastes almost as good out of the bottle as it does on tap. Very easy to find on tap out here and is always my first choice if I can’t get our local 4 Peaks Kiltlifter.

I had this pint on tap and it was ice cold, tasted pretty good definitely better than bud but not a double bastard

Bottle. Pours a light amber with a small head. The aroma is mostly a nice malt/hops balance. The taste though was much more on the malt side. Really smooth with a bit of caramel and some light hops. OK.

Bottle, courtesy Tony at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a clear copper color, with a nice pillowy white head. Not a lot of lacing. Aroma is fairly malty; caramel, toffee, with some distant hops. Subdued overall. Flavors of standard malty fare, with biscuit and oats. Eh. Drinkable, refreshing. Really nothing special to it at all.
