Commercial Description:
Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

Bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2. I was so psyched to try this, as I love New Belgium, and I love fruit beers. What a dissapointment in both! The pour is a dark wine red with a full off-white head. Raspberry aroma with some sort of grassy off scents behind it. The palate is thin and flat--and really ruins the brew. The taste is bad--watered down raspberry extract flavor and a slight bitterness. Tastes fake and confused.

12oz bottle. Poured a deeper reddish borwn with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of raspberries and interestingly I was getting some pine and cinnamon. Tastes of lighter raspberries and lighlty nutty. Lacing left on the glass.

I drank a six pack of this beer and it made me sick to my stomach. The beer tasted alright, but it tastes really sugary. Not a big fan of fruit beers but I’ll rate it for what it is.

12oz bottle about 6weeks old. pours a brown with reddish hue and fluffly head. a very nice. aroma has a nice soft bouqet of raspberries with a nuttiness behind it. a very nice. sometimes a good aroma and appearance fools you and this beer is no difference. what is going on with the flavor of this beer? raspberries taste stale, and aren’t present enough in the flavor. the brown ale is nothing special too, some mild nuttiness but watery. a fruit beer doesn’t work for me unless either the fruit is full flavored, the fruit ascents a full flavored beer behind it, or both the fruit and the beer flavor is big. if both are weak then of course the beer fails, as the case for this beer. i reminder liking this more last year.

This brown ale poured with a lacy off-white head, eliciting a sweet raspberry aroma. The base flavor is a bit thin and unremarkable, but the delicate framboise flavor is what makes this beer enjoyable.

The raspberries really come out at you when you take a smell of this brew. The taste is a bit sour but also has a nutty taste you’d expect with a brown ale.

Very good desert style beer...almost a very wine like aftertaste and you can really taste the higher percentage of alcohol. Raspberry taste is just the right amount and does not overpower the overall beer flavor. No bitter aftertaste and is quite smooth.

12 oz bottle from drewbeerme. pours a redish brown with a tall light head that fades and releases a wonderful raspberry aroma: sour and sweet sugars. The brown ale part of the beer is very strong, it has a strong taste of brown ale (carmel and malt) with a little sweet and sour raspberries along the edges of it. I thought the flavor potential was very big but in the end it really lacks the lactic sourness and frutiness it needs to be a great beer. The brown ale underneath is a little boring and without that extra fruit step, the beer leaves me a little disapointed.
