Commercial Description:
Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

12 oz bottle from drewbeerme. pours a redish brown with a tall light head that fades and releases a wonderful raspberry aroma: sour and sweet sugars. The brown ale part of the beer is very strong, it has a strong taste of brown ale (carmel and malt) with a little sweet and sour raspberries along the edges of it. I thought the flavor potential was very big but in the end it really lacks the lactic sourness and frutiness it needs to be a great beer. The brown ale underneath is a little boring and without that extra fruit step, the beer leaves me a little disapointed.

Of the fruit beers i’ve had, tis is one of my favorites. It’s not too sweet, and the raspberry flavor is just subtle enough. Pours a nice dark copper with a small white head. Aroma is very nice, with a definate smell of raspberry.

12 oz bottle. Best before Jan 2007. Well worn copper penny color. Small tan head with a pink tint.
Decadent raspberry chocolate cake aroma.
Raspberry flavor starts out nice, a little sweet a little tart, but quickly becomes cloying.
Decent beer, but it becomes a little to sweet to drink more than one.

not the beer I was expecting. while it was easy to drink, this was all about the raspberries. I expected more from the brown ale base, but the aroma and flavor was predominantly raspberries. good in a way, especially the well hidden alcohol, but I was expecting some bret to lend some additional character to this.

It’s definately got the black forest cake thing going for it, but is otherwise pretty one-dimensional. Thin and fizzy, with a nice raspberry aroma and a touch of fruity-sourness and chocolate. Not much else to say.

12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquor - Pours a clear copper color with a average size, thick light tan/pink head. Thin lacing. Has a berry aroma. Has a raspberry and toasty malt flavor. Medium body. This beer was a pleasant suprise. I guess I was expecting more of a Lambic. A decent beer. Give it a try.

12 ounce bottle. Pours brown with a purple tint. Fizzy redish brown head. Aroma if a black forest style cake. Raspberry and chocolate again in the flavor. Carbonation really takes away from this beer. Very aggresive.
