Transparent ruby-brown ale, with a reddish brown head that laces the glass. Nice fresh raspberry aroma. Slighty sweet, malty-raspberry flavor with a hint of sourness in the aftertaste. Aroma is mostly fresh real raspberries. Not puree. Very slight heartier malt notes beneath the sweetness. Ruby colored with a thin white film for a head. Probably shouldn’t have had this after the New Glarus Raspberry Tart it just ruins other raspberry beers for my palate. Very light raspberry notes with a solid pumpernickel-tinged malt base. I really can’t taste any alcohol so the 7% is completely masked. Palate gets very thin, but the finish is lasting and a nice raspberry/malt mix. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

It pours to a clean red hued brown body with a dense thin tan head and nice lacing. The aroma is very nice and smells of fresh picked raspberries, raspberry preserves, light toast. The flavor is light toasty nut brown bread with a light dose of raspberry preserves. Pretty basic flavors and the raspberry not as apparent as the aroma, unfortunately. The palate is medium bodied, very slick, easy to drink. I’d drink it again. Sincere (145), wichita, Kansas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 15, 2006 Updated: Aug 31, 200612 oz bottle, pured into shaker produces a reddish-purple, thick head with decent spotty lacing. Smells and tastes as advertised: a very strong presence of raspberries, in an overall remarkably good beer. Doesn’t taste too sweet, and not sour like some say. An incredibly silky mouthfeel, and a smooth aftertaste. Seasonal, so grab it when you see it. GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 7, 2006 I was expecting something fairly mediocre and I got something far beyond mediocrity. This is a really nice fruit beer that’s both satisfying on the sweet frutiness and the beer profile. Aroma is like smelling raspberry jam combined with a nice brown ale. Appearance is just something beautiful to look at, like a deep garnet ring that’s clear as can be. Mouthfeel was a bit watery so I’d have to say that was it’s achilles. Flavor was not overly sweet IMO. Just a nice balance of fruit and beer, so I’d have to say for this particular style it’s very well done. I would definitely get this again if I’m ever in the mood for a fruit beer. I’d think this would go exceptionally well with a raspberry cheesecake. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA

Reminded me of what drinking chocolate covered rasberries would be like.. I’ll look forward to getting this again next year hopefully. jerc (3911), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 4, 2006 Bottle. brown body, big frothy beige head. Tart yet sweet and jammy rasperry aroma. Flavour is quite sweet raspberry with just a hint of tart leafy raspberry with lots of jammy fruit notes. The underlying beer really only shows itself in the aftertaste. Average to medium palate has a saccharine quality to it. I was hoping for more to this one. Thanks for the bottle JoeMcPhee. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA

Flavors of raspberries and toast. Not overly sweet like I thought it might be but still a little bit heavy on the raspberries.
