Commercial Description:
Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

I think this is one of those beers that, like British humour and mangoes, one would either love or hate. To me the overwhelming tartness, combined with a distinct yeastiness, overpowers the malt and leaves the palate dry with an aftertaste of alcohol. It’s very strange, and I don’t like it--but that’s not to say you won’t.

12oz bottle from drewbeerme. Pours a light amber/red with a foamy off white head. Nose is cherries, light malt and sugar. Taste is sour cherries, light malt, sweet sugar. A very clean and crisp palate.

Intresting flavor and overall brew. I liked the color a deep brown with aslight redish color. Good aroma with a hint of Raspeberries. The flavor was very much like a summer berry beer. This was a good beer but not the best I have had in the berry arena.

Bottled. Pours brown, with a tan head, leaving a good amount of lacing inside the glass. The aroma is malty with a big raspberry note to it. The flavor is malty and sweet, and the raspberry flavor is complementary rather than overpowering. A nice, medium mouthfeel to this excellent offering from New Belgium.

Pours a nice reddish brown. Aroma is full of fruit and malts. Big raspberry flavor with hints of chocolate. To sweet and fruity for me to drink more than one. A real good beer.

Aroma is caramel, with light raspberries and crystal malt. body is ruby with a cream colored head. taste isn’t that strong/sweet with raspberries, but it does add a late sweetness.

Pours dark reddish brown with quarter inch white head. Aroma is predominantly rasberry, like a sherbet. Flavor is clean, crisp. Rasberry malt. The rasberry is so predominant, even in the aftertaste, that traditional beer tastes are very muted. While I was a little wary about fruit beer at first, I found this beer to be very refreshing and drinkable.

On tap @ Falling Rock poured a clear dark reddish brown with a large lasting tan head. Aromas of raspberry and cocoa. Palate was light bodied, smooth and a bit tart. Flavors of raspberry and a bit of cocoa with a smooth slightly tart finish.
