Commercial Description:
Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

Courtesy TChrome. Pours reddish brown with a small head with good lacing. I find myself expecting and wanting more of a raspberry flavor here. Mild bitter/tart flavor overpowered by malty palate. Average.

Bottle, best before Jan202006. Pours a watered down cola color, with a moderate sized off white head. Smells of rasberries and with some malty, bready notes. Taste is more of the same, very refreshing. Thin lacing. Dumb computer deleted my last rating of this, so I can’t remember what else I added. I really enjoyed this one, though it’s a pain that I can’t get this (or any New Belgium brews) in Iowa-- had to go to Omaha.

Poured a deep cherry color with a very thin, white head that disappated almost immediately. A very plesant smell of raspberry and roasted nuts. A rich malty taste with a hint of chocolate and a nice raspberry undertone. Finished with a bitter crispness that i have seldom found. I am normally not a fan of new belgium but this is an exceptional beer.

Bottle. A deep brown color and very clear. Moderate tannish head forms and leaves good lacing. Aroma is lightly chocolate and raspberry, really rather refreshing for a raspberry beer without a strong, artificial presence. Light bodied and watery on the palate. Flavor is lightly malted with chocolate and delicate berry flavors. Lightly and nicely tart. Decent, needs to lose the watery body.

Amber with a off white/tan head. Glows ruby red in the light. Aroma is a tart rasberry with a earthy notes and nuts. Decently malty with a nutty roast flavor. Rasberry pushes through, but not very strong. Rather sweet with some tartness in the flavor. Could use some more malt.

Ruby tinged brown, nice cap of fine tan head. Raspberry and vanilla with a nice underlay of old fashion British brown character. Remarkably well-balanced, with berry sweetness blending with rich malt character. Clean, dry-leaning finish that keep the sweetness of the fruit from being cloying. Full, soft mouthfeel. What a great beer, and what a nice style fusion! As far as fruity beers go, this has 95% of the fruit laced wheat beers licked. My expectations were fairly low, so enjoying this beer so much was a fun surprise.

Bottle. Was not what I was expecting. Taste like a old stale flat oak beer with a slight rasperry flavor to make it taste better. I don’t know how they messed up so bad on this one, but I have 3 bottles of it I took out of the fridge because I can’t drink the crap. BLEH! I even gave some of it away at a party and only managed to drink one that night. Maybe I got a bad batch or something...because the other reviews are way to nice.

Aroma was slightly sour and had a faint fruity hint of raspberries. Head was slightly pink and the body was reddish brown. Taste was sweet and sour, big on raspberries, moreso than i expected. Medium bodied with some spritzy carbonation. I liked this one a lot, which surprised me because I am usually not a fan of raspberries.
