Commercial Description:
Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

Had this on tap this year for the first time. Much stronger lambic raspberry flavor than in the bottle. Slightly over medicine taste, but cannot beat this for the price. UPDATE 12/2007: In the bottle at the 2007 Crescent Moon Holiday Beer Tasting. Nice raspberry aroma, tart chocolate taste, but nothing special this year. Was I on acid then I previously gave it a 4.2?

Bottle pours a Chocolaty Red with a fine creamy bubbley head. Head and, especially the lacing seem, to be very pronounced, not wanting to part with the glass. Aroma is of cherries and chocolate, much like chocolate covered cherries I would say. Taste is crisp, of cherries and a light maltiness. Not overly sweet at all, very well balanced. Suprisingly, the long lasting cherry finish gives way to a light sour smackdabble (in a good way). 2003 was much better than 2002, 2002 being way way overly sweetened. A well built Fruit flavored Brown Ale. Can ya dig it?

Bottle. Pours a deep ruddy amber with a large, well structure pink/cream head. The head subsides at a moderate pace, leaving slight brussels lace. Nose is fresh, pungent berry, somewhat shy of a true Belgian like Rodenbach, but has more to it than your mass-produced beers from say Blue Moon/Coors. Taste is sweet berry with a sour edge--more conservative than the Belgians it imitates. Dry clean finish. Quite tasty but without the impact of an import.

from a bottle into a snifter: this one looks good when poured, nice creamy head (with a pink-tan hue) the beer has a brown ruby color to it....definately a raspberry nose and a touch of malt. tastes better in the snifter then the bottle. way too strong in the bottle (rasperry taste) in the snifter the flavors come together making more balanced beer. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. im not huge on these beers but i liked drinking one of these for something a bit different.

Very tasty beer. I liked the berry flavor with the maltiness. Good medium body.

This one poured a beautiful cherry hue with a thin tan head. Aroma is a bit sour, raspberries, graham crackers, yeast and malt come to mind. Body is thin to medium and smooth yet effevescent. Flavor is tart and full of raspberries with an acidic finish. Overall not outstanding and rather weak in aroma and flavor.
