Commercial Description:
Frambozen begins with the aroma of fresh red raspberries, followed by the ripe seductiveness of a fruity brown ale with depth and delicate malt notes. It is deep ruby in color, with flavors just as rich. Every year, New Belgium sends a delegate to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice to be added in fermentation. The coming of Thanksgiving at New Belgium is ushered in with the first sighting of our cellar operators scuttling about, covered head to tow in a festive crimson berry wash.

Great aroma, fresh raspberries come through after even the slightest waft. Good red color when poured in glass. On first sip the fresh raspberries strike the palate, and after a couple seconds the fruit flavor subsides and goes into a pleasant brown ale flavor. These two tastes match each other very well with each sip; it tastes like 2 separate beers, and yet the flavors complement each other at every turn. A great winter beer, recommended!

Bottle from SunDevil Liquors. This is a very simple beer that pulls off immense complexity. The raspberries are maybe ripe maybe not and really tart the aroma, but the flavor is on the edge of being too grainy and the ripe unripe berries push it right into Wild Ale taste zones. Only wish the brown was more charred.

Bottle. Pours with a brown, fluffy head and a dark brown body. Aroma is ripe, real raspberries, including the seeds, chocolate, and wheat biscuits. Taste is biscuits, chocolate and raspberry with some wheatiness as well. Syrupy consistency and light carbonation.

Sour and malty with a nice raspberry component that really makes a great drink. Nutty and slightly roasted with moderate sweetness and a light sourness .

Pours a slightly hazy red-brown with a small foamy head. A bit of sourness in the big raspberry aroma and flavor, along with roasted malt and nuts. Just a bit on the thin side. A decent, non-artificial tasting fruit brew.

12oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Poured a pretty reddish brown with a thin, almost pink head. Nice sour berry aroma. Medium bodied, slightly spritzy mouthfeel. Lots of raspberry in the flavor with some chocolate malt. Slightly sour in a good way. Not overly sweet. No discernible hops. Very drinkable. I hadn’t had this in a while, and I found it much better than I remembered.
