Commercial Description:
Ale brewed with Lemon Peel and infused with Espresso
Giddy Up is a delicious juxtaposition of coffee, sustainably grown in Brazil and espresso-roasted locally, pressed into an ale with the deep color of a copper cowboy kettle. First whiff is full of sweeet caramel, toffee, latte. Then, a hint of lemon scone flavor from the addition of lemon peel. Body is creamy, resonant of espresso, yet the finish is bright, even a bit frisky. An ale to git along with...

1/1/09 The beer is a very dark amber, almost red in coloration with a thick tan head. The smell is strongly influenced by espresso, and is appealing.the flavor is initially sharp fading into a thin porter flavor, finishing with a slightly bitter tangy note. Overall a good beer, though not a beer that stands out amongst a crowd. If you want this flavor go with a full fledged porter.

Sampled on 12/27/2008. This spiced ale pours a medium amber color from a 120z bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is coffee and lemon peel. Some roasted malts and fruit. A medium bodied spiced beer. The malts are coffee and chocolate. The hops are earthy. Kind of an espresso mild, lots of rich coffee flavors, yet not overpowering. Kind of fruity and citrusy but I cannot taste the lemon peel. A very drinkable beer, it would be a good session beer if it were not 6%. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

From a Folly Pack. The deep copper body is topped with a dense khaki head. The aroma was fresh almonds and baking bread. There was also a little bit of milk chocolate. The taste has some bread crust and pear core. There is a decent espresso finish. Drinkable and interesting.

Bottle from BevMo, La Mesa. Deep amber in color upon pouring. Aroma is pretty much like spent coffee grounds. Coffee flavored with a light hint of sweetness. Finish is roasty and burnt with a little bitterness.

On tap at the brewery. Poured a deep brown color with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is mostly dominated by coffee and espresso, but there is also a bit of caramel. Smooth, moderately sweet entry with roasted coffee and espresso, some hazelnut, and a lightly tart hint of lemon in the finish that pairs with the light brown sugar and chocolate finish. Moderate carbonation and decent mouthfeel. It is an interesting beer, but it is not something that really stands out for me.

Draft at Papago. Poured a clear brown-orange color. The head was khaki and left some lace behind on the glass. Smelled of distinct coffee, nuts, and subdued brown sugar. There was only the slightest whiff of lemon, and it would have been tough to pick it out prospectively. Light to medium bodied and delicately sweet. Coffee dominated the flavor and was supported by brown sugar and cocoa accents. No lemon to speak of.

ABR 2008 on tap - Pours an average brown. The nose is coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. Comes across the palate as coffee sweetened with vanilla and hazelnut, finishes with a hint of lemon. Nice mouth feel; the beer leaves a lingering bitterness on the tongue.
