Commercial Description:
Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

Pours a yellowish orange color with a medium sized foamy white head. Notes of sweetbread, cinnamon rolls, funk, pineapple, yarn, and cordial. Overall easy drinking and delightful.

Pale golden pour with a thick stick white head. The nose is quite lovely. Soft perfumey nose with a lovely soft malt base and a kiss of flowers, brett and a nicely flinty minerality. As it warms up the nose really brightens up, shows off flowers, lemon peel, brett and cologne. In the mouth it has lively carbonation and a soft creamy palate. A nice mix of lemon balm, flint and a bit of soft white spice. There is a balance of really good stuff going on in here but there is also an odd deadness on the back of the palate that makes the beer kind of fade away in a strange way. It still smells and looks great, but there does seem to be a little something missing.

Having a bottle of this from our good friend Paul B, gracias Pablo. Poured with a nice white head and a little lace. Color is a hazy yellow v the burnished gold. Aroma is not so good - rotted flowers. Flavor is reminiscent of same plus major dominance of bitter yeast. Body is ok, a bit thin at the end with good carbonation. Finish is no great shakes. Bitter yeastoids are too much.

Bomber. Pours a hazy, medium, golden-straw hue with a small head of frothy, swampy, off-white foam. Settling slowly to a patchy film with a pronounced, bubbly edge, the head leaves sticky swaths of cobweb lacing on the glass. The aroma is really nice, notes of controlled brett imparting it’s signature dry, musty yeast effect to the underlying soft, fresh grain and doughy bread. Wildflowers offer lightly peppery, fresh hop notes, working nicely with the brett to cut right through the grain and keep things balanced. There’s also a hint of bright, citrusy lemongrass. Flavors follow the trend, delecatbly well balanced and uber fresh, with the perfect amount of wild brett and zippy floral hops there to compliment the doughy, bready malt. On the tongue, soft, tingly carbonation distributes the woody, musty yeast and grassy, floral bitterness evenly, while the moderately sweet grain substance offers up the creamy conterpoint. Orval influence abounds, this is a beautiful, bretty Belgian-inspired ale. I’d even venture to say it’s a more balanced, more sessionable version of the beer it aspires to be. Fantastic brew.

Sampled from 22-oz bomber supplied by deliriumfest. Pours a semi-hazy dirty straw colored brew with a decent white head that has some nice retention. Aroma of spicy white pepper, citrus, pear and some yeast. Taste is medium to full bodied, some carbonation with flavors of yeast, white pepper, citrus a hint of tropical fruit and some coriander. Finish is semi-dry with a light tart and yeast aftertaste that slowly disappears.

Bottle courtesy of cavie. Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Smells of spice, dry malt, perfumy. Tastes dry and spicy with some nice peppery splashes and some hints of sweet citrus on the finish.
