Mar 15, 2009 Sampled at C&P Otown Throwdown, big thanks to SoLan! Pours a nice reddish brown. Slightly sour tart cherry funk aroma. Taste is tart cherry, dark fruit, malt and some barrel notes. Nice beer.

Mar 13, 2009 Garnet red with a thin creamy tan head. Fruity cherry cinnamon nose with vanilla oak. Light Bret? Maybe hint of lacto, but it might just be the cherry and oak playing tricks on me. Lighter carbonation with a medium to slightly thicker body. Sweet to lightly tart fruity cherry. Light cinnamon (ala NG Belgian Red), vanilla, oak, again maybe Bret. Fruity, but not artificial or sickening. Very cherry. The oak really balances it out.

Mar 13, 2009 Pours a dark cherry/chestnut color, with very minimal beige head. Light cherries in the aroma, with some tartness and malt. Flavors are biscuits, red cherries, oak, sweet caramel malt, and a light sourness. Nice and juicy with sweet cherries and balance tart, but over all it’s not that interesting, not really worth the price of the search.

Mar 11, 2009 22 oz. bottle from Binnys South Loop (Chicago, IL) picked up after I was surprised to see it there. Pours a very interesting reddish brown with some fiery notes and largely clear outside of the darkness with very small white head that dissipates to a film. Aromas are sour cherries, tartness, lighter sweet maltiness, and faint oak. Initial is nice: light maltiness conjures up some innocent yet tasty sour and tart cherry, light oak, light carbonation, and a decent dryness to compliment the sourness. This beer is a bit underpowered flavor wise, but it has character, spunk, and an all around smoothness and sessionability, and was better than some of these ratings led me to believe. Finishes with some tartness, oak, and dryness that usually indicate a pretty good brew. This really is nothing to scoff at and in six packs available year round, I’d be a regular buyer of this.
