redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2009 Sweet spicy aroma. Pours blonde with a thick white head. Mold flavor, very floral, hints of spices, very similar to la chouffe, solid tripel. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 29, 2009 1/2 pint on tap at the Falling Rock. The color was a clear golden yellow with a small white head. very nice smell of spices and pepper. The taste had a slightly Belgian yeasty, funk (not sour) at first but was actually very easy to drink and I did not notice the 8% at all. It felt much more like a 6% beer. I prefer this over the regular New Blgium tripel because it didn’t seem as carbonated.

Clean pilsner malty, citrus, spicy, fruity, apples, licorice yeasty, light hoppy, citrus. Nice & clean. thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Sep 13, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a nice golden straw color with a small white head. The aroma has hints of pear and vanilla with a strong malt back. The flavor on this beer is amazing. Very complex and many many different layers. The pear and vanilla hints in the aroma come through in the flavor as well, and there is also hints of banana and a slight reminder of angel food cake. Very wonderful. This beer did not drink like an 8.5% triple at all. Very smooth and nice on the palate. Well done! luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jun 2, 2008 Sampled ’08 BSAF. Beer is clear, light-hued golden brown. Head is small, white, frothy; mostly and quickly diminishing.
The aroma is malty with a light note of toasted grain; Light hop note of apricot; Light miscellaneous note of grassy green tea, tropical fruit, vanilla, moderate note of sugar syrup.
The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic with a long, light/moderately acidic (juicy), lightly bitter, light/moderately sweet, dirty finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is average.
Neat idea, overly sweet and vegetal, mostly under-developed. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA May 4, 2008 2008 Boulder Strong Ale Fest: Light golden. Lively carbonation. Sticky malts (honey-like). Yerba mate was slightly noticeable ... earthy, faintly smoky, tea-like. In some ways it was mead-like, and in other ways it was white wine-like. Herbal aromas were pleasant. Yeast seemed to contribute well. Not too shabby. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Apr 4, 2008 draft at the brewery - Pours golden with a linger white head. It’s a fairly sweet, citrusy, yeasty brew that I found quite similar to their regular tripel. The main difference I noticed was more obvious spices in this one and it worked for me. I preferred it slightly to their regular tripel. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Apr 1, 2008 On tap @ Falling Rock poured a clear gold with a small lasting creamy white head. Aromas of banana, spice, fruittiness, light carmel and a hint of honey. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, spice and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering spicy bittersweet finish.
