Commercial Description:
Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

On tap at Toronado during the RBSG Pub Crawl Tour on 08/01/2008. Hazy pale yellow body with a small white head. Cardamom, grains of paradise, light banana aroma. Banana and clove flavor, light caramel and spice. Medium full body with medium low carbonation.

On tap at Papago. Light, hazy golden color pour with a foamy white head. Light sweet fruit, malt and yeast aroma. Flavor is almost the same, but with a touch of spice and tartness on the finish. Very light and refreshing on the palate, but maybe a bit too light. Good, but nothing memorable.

Tap @ Flying Saucer. Um, there was definitely no brett in this but believe it or not it was still a fine brew. The beer comes to me with a completely dark straw color and a head that has receded into a surface cover, sticky lacing. Aroma is beautifully soft with light herbalness, light sweetness, and a light yeast spiciness coming through. Aroma has a lot of subtle character and overall comes of as a wonderful blended perfume. Taste lacks some of the nuances and is more of a straight up Belgian with light sweetness and spicy. A light herbal finish lingers as well. All this comes with a nice pillow-y mouthfeel. I would recommend and drink this myself if given the opportunity.

Draft at F.O. Culver City. I was puzzled by this beer. It seemed like a Sour-Saison-Single to me, with an acrid nose, a tart citrusy beginning and fuller (but tart) hops near the (bitter) end. Very amorphous even while drinking it. Light, though, and plenty refreshing. Almost a palate cleanser in its non-identity.

On tap at 33 wine bar. Pours hazy golden / orange with a foamy white head along with a ton of carbonation and head that gives good lacing. The aroma is fairly dry with light fruit and wild yeast. Medium grainy body that is moderately sharp and crisp with subdued carbonation. The flavor starts with straw, graininess, earthy yeast, non-sweet nectar fruits and light plastic. The finish has dry spice and grassy hops with a bit of yeasty funk. This is a good beer, but not as special as expected. The dryness is very enjoyable and would make a good summer evening beer.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. light brett, light malt, light spice aroma. Malt flavor with light citrus, spice, and light brett. Medium bodied. Lingering light citrus tartness, spice, and malt. Needs more time to develop the brett.

Cloudy golden with good head. Mix of citrus nad yeast. Subtle bitterness grows into the finish. Yeasty peach flavor sticks out. Sligh metallic astringency. Seems a bit light and thin.
