Commercial Description:
Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

Draft at Falling Rock Tap House in Denver. Hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma of orange, hops, and yeast. Doughy flavor, with a strong citrusy sweetness and a twinge of funkiness. Very little hops. Finishes tart and sweet; very delicate. It’s super complex but not at all in your face about it. Good stuff.

On tap @ Falling Rock poured a cloudy gold with a lasting white head. Aromas of barnyard funk, citrus and light leather. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of straw, light barnyard, light citrus and a hint of leather with a smooth bretty finish.

On tap at the Flying Saucer-KC. Pours a hazy gold with a fluffy, white head and pretty, delicate lace. The nose is of bright, fruity, Belgian yeast and subtle pale malt. Light to medium-bodied it moves toward a light graininess at the finish. The flavor is of sweet pale malt backed by the trademark New Belgium nutty yeast. This is a fairly interesting brew that tastes much like a lighter version of their tripel.

Draft at Vinos Little Rock AR.Yellow with a small white head. Nose of spices, brett, and a bit of Orval-lishness.Taste is dry, funky/barnyard, bitter, but very drinkable. Puckering finish. I can taste the Orval background in this-well done. I need to get a 750 or two or three of this and try it aged. I take it that the 750’s are bottle conditioned?

From a 750mL Bottle. Mostly cloudy, heavily carbonated, pale gold pour with a huge head of sudsy white. Aromas of herbal hops, bread dough malt, and some white pepper yeast spice. Extremely light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel with a dry palate. The body is a bit thin with a bone dry carbonic bite. Flavors of peppery yeast and herbal hops that seem to get a bit pithy in the finish. Light bready malt flavors, but these are overwhelmed by the hops and yeasty spice. Interesting beer, but the intense dryness seems to overwhelm some of the other complexities. I generally dig the really dry beers, but this one seems to be a bit off the charts.

draft @ papago... hazed rich blonde with a soft white head which leaves a small amount of lacework on the glass. aroma is peachy, sweet grains, floral like honey suckle, peppery spiciness, mineral/earth and yeasty dryness. the palate is initially a bit sweet but turns nearly bone dry on the finish. flavors of some sort of fruit?/citrus/peach, mineral/stone, grain, woody like a dried out stick, lightly spicy and a little savory from the yeast. medium bodied. the nearly parching dryness makes it satisfyingly easy to drink...

6/19/08 On draught at The Dog and Pony, Renton, Wa. Aroma has a solid tropical fruit note complimented by clove phenols. Appearance is an excellent cloudy yellow/orange with great belgian lace. Flavor is more subtle, with banana and sweet malt dominating, but sweetness is low and keeps this very easy drinking.

Draft. Doughy, yeasty aroma, some peppery spice and light notes of brett, along with touches of citric fruit sweetness and pale malts. Hazy golden color with a lasting, fine head. Flavor is lightly tart, fruity, grainy and a little bit funky, some very gentle "farminess" combined with lighter additions of wood and straw, faint bitterness and a finish that shows some lasting malty sweetness. Some fairly light complexity and balance to be found. Palate is thin, lightly acidic and effervescent, body is light-medium. Fairly refreshing and tasty.
