Commercial Description:
Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

22 oz. bottle from Liquor Mart in Boulder, CO (bottled 6/25/09). Pours pale yellow with a white head. Aroma of lemon zest, Belgian yeast, and a hint of spice. Light citrus flavor along with a bit of coriander. This is light and refreshing but nothing really stands out. The description mentions Orval as a beer that attempts to pattern itself after. While I see the similarities it is not as good.

Gold with an off white head. Nose is pineapple, yeast, lemon and light spices. Nice on the palate with a flavor of pineapples, honey, yeast and some clove in the finish.

Bottle: Pours a hazy orange color with a light head. The nose is zesty with citrus and yeasty esters, some light coriander and orange along with a sweeter, tangy maltiness. The flavor shows off the yeast and malts with a zesty carbonated mouthfeel. A little lacking in the depth department but it has a refreshing aftertaste and a clean and citrusy yeasty note. Orval? Hmm, no.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (resin), with notes of lemon zest, plastic, cotton candy, corn syrup. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Not really that much going on, and kinda clunky and artificial. Bears very little resemblance to Orval, to be sure.

Sampled on 9/18.2009. This Belgian Ale pours a slightly hazy light orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is floral and spicy, orange peel. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of orange and floral flavors. The hops are floral and spicy. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. Nice mixture of spices, malt and hops. Lot of nice little bubbles. Nice dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a touch of floral hop and perhaps a touch of funk.

Bottle from Cavie. Sour aroma, and taste of soap? Not too bad, but a little disapointing.

Pours cloudy golden, with a medium white head, lasting lacing. Smells of spice, banana, pineapple, bubblegum, and caramel. Medium-light body, smooth. Flavors of clove, spice, biscuit, citrus, with some grassy notes. Well balanced and drinkable. Some yeast and hop notes similar to Skinny Dip.

house.. . pours a medium gold with some haze. has a good head, some nice lacing qualities. has something to it, a weird fun delicious bitterness, like brett on a carnival ride... i want to write good things but its just to good. fuck it. is very orval like, just a bit more user friendly.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtEZMzWS68Q .. give this to everyone on earth, and orval will beat bud light in global sales.. . hi, a shorter version of hello. .. . lacing is a medium porn producer white out.. . great light fulfilling mouthfeel.. . Franka Potente is such a fuckin hotty! .. . this is a very well made beer, it, as the label says, it is a tip of the hat to orval, but it is done in such a people friendly, refined and non pretentious way, like orval but not trying to invade on it. i hope people give this a chance, its dreamy! .. people can’t fly, but why not!!!! try this brew, its one of new belgiums best!.. i don’t give a shit if you can see the seam..
