The smell is hoppy, pine sol, slight fruit, some malt, and caramel. The taste is some hop bitterness your normal pale ale sort of taste. Ok but nothing to write home about. The aroma boasts more than adequate citrusy hops for the style. Bright grapefruit leaning bitterness is balanced very well with clean crystal malt and honey. Flavors of grapefruit and strong green tea are present. The finish would be pretty dry if not for the honey character which lingers. I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. I like the clean and generous use of American hops.

Pitcher at the Roaming Gnome. Again, great aroma on this one. The grapefruity hops really jump out. I had about a pint and a half of this and the honey sweetness compounds and gets pretty rough after one full glass. If they had made this less sweet, I’d enjoy it even more. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 11, 2009 Bottle split with barrios at woody’s. Pours a clear light amber with nice thick white head. Aroma is very fruity hop aroma, like grapefruit with a wierd twinge of mustiness. Flavor is semi-bitter with some citrusy hop flavor and a dusty quality. Leaves a dry semi-bitter finish in my mouth. Decent for style I suppose, but not exactly my cup of tea. Kenbeer30 (41), Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 10, 2009 The aroma is at first of the hops, then the nose gets some of the malty sweetness, but definitely announces the hops present in the drink. It pours from a 12 oz bottle into my NB snifter. Creates a full 2 finger head that leaves thick lacing. Very pretty. Slight carbonation keeps a thin foam on top through the whole beer. Flavor is a tinge of sweet malt quickly followed by the presence of the nice hops. Hops are a dried floral & fruit, but not sweet fruit, more like dried dates or figs. Very good ale from the folks in Colorado. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 10, 2009 On tap at SDBC. Auburn to orange in color. Aroma of caramel, earth, bread, honey and citrus. Flavor was much of the same. With a fairly solid balance. Good for the style. Suttree (2743), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

But this is a type of beer I have a weakness for - thin, a little unbalanced toward the hoppy side, and very clean and crisp. I could drink a lot of this. hayduke (1674), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 8, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle this poured a clear gold to amber with a good white head and thick lacing. Nose of floral and citrus hops, and a touch of pone. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is caramel malts and some light hops as in the aroma. Light bitter finish. Decent APA and easy drinking. jkwalking05 (1501), Arlington, Texas, USA
