Good cascade hop aromas, slight toffeeish malts, hint of lemon grass aromas.
Thisis a simple malty semi-sweet ,balanced..with a nice mellow hop taste.
Lightly carbonated mouthfeel, soft, smooth and very "English".
I actually found this quite nice and drinkable, didnt seem like 6% alc. to me! 944play (66), Santa Rosa, California, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/20 | Jan 30, 2009 12oz in goblet. Appealing golden, diamond bright with low white head. Floral, chamomile, lemon, earth, and bile aroma. Yeah, that last one really does it in. Taste is of woody stems, chlorophyll, sweet light crystal, rose, roots, and puke. Again, that last one just ruins it. Finishes with an easy sweetness but incites very little desire to restart the experience. I’ll get Mirror Pond next time, thanks. mjg74 (2001), La Mesa, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Bottle from Valley Farm Market. Dark golden in color upon pouring. Somewhat spicy hop aroma, some citrus. Spicy peppery hoppiness. A little under carbonated for my palate. Not bad, but I wouldn’t buy this again when I can get SNPA. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Bottle from Binny’s Beverage Depot in Orland Park, IL. Nice pour, a clear deep golden body with a thick white head and plenty of lace. The aroma is grainy and sweet and has a citrus and earthy hoppiness to it. Same with the flavor, although a dollop of honey has been added. Not very inspired, but drinkable. Arrow the dog deserves better. Aubrey (2782), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Draft at the NB Bar & Grill at DIA: Bright and clear gold. Light on the tongue, yet smooth and clean and easy to drink. Malts had some sugariness to them, with elements of cereal and caramel. Flowery-sweet hops and a slight citrus. Bitterness was too mild. Decent session beer but it had an underwhelming complexity, especially for a 6-percent beer. brewtopian (2), Boise, Idaho, USA does not count | 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 2/20 | Jan 25, 2009 As others have mentioned, its a beautiful beer to look at but less than enjoyable to drink. If the hops were more predominant or they had upped the CO2 levels this beer would score much better with me. Not one of New Belgiums better efforts.
