Up close the hops are a little bit nicer, but not exactly good. Flavor is definitely worse. Not the worst pale ale ever, but still a bad experience. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Copper colored pour with a slightly off white head. Very mild hop aroma with some malt as well. The flavor is very mild. Flavors seem a bit watered down or tame. The hops does not come through as I would want with a pale ale. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2009 pours a clear light amber with a lasting whitish head. Smell is pretty nice and fairly hoppy with a good mix of malt and grassy hops. Taste is pretty balanced, but a touch thin in the finish. Nice maltiness and a moderate to mild bitterness and good hop flavor. Mildish bitterness. Pretty solid all around pale and sessionable. Good beer. Harsebrau (166), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 17, 2009 12oz bottle, shared with Grant and Lori. Crystal clear, amber liquid. Snow white, frothy head. Left behind lacing all the way down. Hoppy and toasted malt aroma. Flavor was crisp to a faded cereal. Hop citrus and grain. It’s ok. New Belgium has a ’flavor’ that is present in many of their beers. This has it too. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Draft: Poured an amber color with small amount of head. The aroma was hops, caramel and spice. The flavor was pretty much the same, with some pepper and stronger hops. Overall, this was just OK to me. Nothing special. bu11zeye (5644), Frisco, Texas, USA
