Pours a very clear golden/orange with moderate white head that diminishes to a trace. For some reason I smell a Purina Dog Chow bag. Funky smell of malts and hops without nothing distincive hitting me, other than an empty Purina Dog Chow food bag (is this what they call "barnyard"? Definitely more malts than hops in the nose. Have to say I like a more hopped APA than this, but overall it is balanced and more malty. I’d drink again but would probably pass on purchasing. To me the aroma is not as pleasant as others. Overall I find New Belgium a fine brewery, but something about this just is not right with me. RedSox2004 (359), Pacific Palisades, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Clear yellowish orange with a fluffy white head and nice lacing. Strong piney hops aroma. Hops flavors are less intense, but are accomapnied by a significant malt backbone. Resinous mouthfeel, good carbonation, and a citrusy aftertaste. More than I expected. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Pretty refreshing brew. Brass colored pour with nice 2-inch foam that left a touch or two of lacing. Quite floral, with citrus peel and honey in the nose. Clean, bright, and highly drinkable. Hop forward. Medium mouthfeel. benpickens (138), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Reminds me of their winter brew 2 below. Spicy herbal notes with a hop kick. Decent quaffing beer. RAYBOY01 (1864), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Straw pour with fluffy white head. the nose releases a pretty strong PNW hop profile: pine resin and grapefruit. Flavor is likewise PNW-style hoppy, but the lightly roasted cramel malt really is a touch more predominant than the hops. Very respectable brew and certainly repeatable (I know I did!), but I really prefer my APA’s a touch more hop-forward. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Clear gold color with a large head. Solid cascade hop aroma, with the oranges you’d expect. Crisp and bitter taste. A little vinous, like a fresh hop. Slight grain. Nothing to shout about, but certainly solid and highly drinkable. Crit (2409), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada
