| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2009 22 oz bottle into weizen glass. Pours a hazy pale golden yellow. Bright white head, not too large. Sweet citrus aroma, spice, yeasty, and banana. Mouth of citrus, wheat, yeast. Very fruity and spicy flavor. Orange flavor too. Fizzy in the mouth, and very light bodied. I’m going to let this warm a bit and see what else comes out...give it a few degrees and here comes the orange, finally! Good stuff here. I’m really looking forward to trying more New Belgium offerings. ChainGangGuy (2613), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 25, 2009 12 oz. single picked up at Riverside Wine and Spirits in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Best Before: 08MAY09. The back label gives explicit instructions on pouring then swirling and adding the yeast. Well, rules are rules!
Appearance: Pours a cloudy, straw-colored body topped with an inch of white head.
Smell: Slight notes of yeast, citrus, and spice overlay a soft wheat aroma.
Taste: Delicate wheat flavor, a bit sweet, a bit tangy alongside a squirt of lemon juice and pinch of orange peel. A few cracker crumbs. Slight yeastiness. Pungent coriander spice character. Mild hop character and bitterness. Lingering yeast taste on the drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A lightly flavored, refreshing witbier, but, for me, there are better wits to be had.
