Commercial Description:
Our first venture into organically-produced beer, Mothership Wit Organic Wheat Beer elevates the zesty Wit or White beers of Belgium. Our far-flung Beer Rangers affectionately refer to our Fort Collins brewery as the Mothership, a name that conjures images of earth shot from space and the interconnectivity of it all. Mothership Wit is brewed with wheat and barley malt, as well as coriander and orange peel spicing resulting in a balance of citrus and sour flavors held in suspension by a bright burst of carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is wheat, grain, malts and grass. Very earthy feel and taste to it. Had these while I was BBQing. Decent but nothing special.

Hazy pale beer with a short fizzy white head. Light banana in the aroma. Some yeast too. The flavor is bready and lightly fruity but not as spicy as I expect. Sort of dull really.

Poured a slightly hazy pale golden color with a short, fizzy white head. Minimal lacing. The aroma is yeast, citrus and thin wheat. The flavor is tart citrus with some yeast, mild wheat and a splash of peppery spice. Lots of carbonation. Light, bubbly mouthfeel. Not bad.

22 oz bottle into weizen glass. Pours a hazy pale golden yellow. Bright white head, not too large. Sweet citrus aroma, spice, yeasty, and banana. Mouth of citrus, wheat, yeast. Very fruity and spicy flavor. Orange flavor too. Fizzy in the mouth, and very light bodied. I’m going to let this warm a bit and see what else comes out...give it a few degrees and here comes the orange, finally! Good stuff here. I’m really looking forward to trying more New Belgium offerings.

12 oz. single picked up at Riverside Wine and Spirits in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Best Before: 08MAY09. The back label gives explicit instructions on pouring then swirling and adding the yeast. Well, rules are rules! Appearance: Pours a cloudy, straw-colored body topped with an inch of white head. Smell: Slight notes of yeast, citrus, and spice overlay a soft wheat aroma. Taste: Delicate wheat flavor, a bit sweet, a bit tangy alongside a squirt of lemon juice and pinch of orange peel. A few cracker crumbs. Slight yeastiness. Pungent coriander spice character. Mild hop character and bitterness. Lingering yeast taste on the drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A lightly flavored, refreshing witbier, but, for me, there are better wits to be had.
