Commercial Description:
Our first venture into organically-produced beer, Mothership Wit Organic Wheat Beer elevates the zesty Wit or White beers of Belgium. Our far-flung Beer Rangers affectionately refer to our Fort Collins brewery as the Mothership, a name that conjures images of earth shot from space and the interconnectivity of it all. Mothership Wit is brewed with wheat and barley malt, as well as coriander and orange peel spicing resulting in a balance of citrus and sour flavors held in suspension by a bright burst of carbonation.

Pours milky pale yellow with a key lime hue, swirling effervescence, and a finely-beaded froth. The expected scents of orange/coriander/yeasty-phenolics are plentiful... bonus bouquets of pineapple, melon. clove. fiji apple, and madiera add attractive complexity. Exotic peppery coriander pairs with honeyed sweetness before gliding toward bready and mellow citric flavors, finishing with a whisper of wood-fired pizza oven. The flowery aftertaste hints at licorice and banana peel. A light and barely pasty palate is brightened by fruity acidity and airy carbonation. I would prefer more CO2 and a little more pilsner malt flavor; otherwise, Mothership is a textbook wit that nestles pefectly between lone-dimensional actic wheat ale and overspiced liquid candy... and is amazingly true-to-style for a normally low-quality organic beer. By far the best NBB beer newly availble in the SE.

Decent wheat beer but nothing too special. Has a pretty full bouquet of orange peel and floral characters but doesn’t hold its own in the flavor. Decent and refreshing brew but not up to par with a real Belgian Wit. Probably won’t buy again.

A cloudy yellow appearance with a moderate white head. The aroma is nice with some lemons, spice, coriander, and orange peel. The flavor is somewhat subdue with some lemons, coriander, and bready notes present. The finish is rather dry. Overall a pretty good witbier.

Bomber. Pours a grassy yellow color with a big white head. Nose of yeast, spice, wheat. Taste is of wheat, citrus, coriander, yeast. Finishes a little bitter. Body is pretty light; this is an easy drinker. Good session brew or summer drinker.

Poured an orange haze with a rocky white head. Aroma is slight, with pepper notes. Flavor has more lemon than orange, although not a bright flavor.

22oz bomber. Pours a yellow/orange cloudy color. Nose is typical of a wit beer, with lots of coriander, yeast and some citrus notes. Flavor is the same but with more lemon zest than expected, to much in my opinion. There are much better white beers on the market for me to get this one again. It is Organic though so thats a plus.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light straw yellow with a very bubbly white head that falls down into a small ring with moderate lacing. Aroma is of coriander and lemon along with a hint of spice. Flavor has a note of orange peel mixed with coriander and nice yeast character. It has a slight sweetness to it that makes everything work so nicely.

Bottle from Frugal MacDoogal in Nashville. Pours a cloudy yellow with an airy white head. Aroma of lemon and belgian yeast esters. Light bodied with a thin but refreshing texture. Flavor of pale light wheat malt with a strong orange peel presence. A nice balancing residual sweetness is there as well. Clean finish with some faint tartness and acidity. Not as aggressive in spice and body as other wits, but this works in it’s favor as this one is a good thirst quencher.
