Commercial Description:
Our first venture into organically-produced beer, Mothership Wit Organic Wheat Beer elevates the zesty Wit or White beers of Belgium. Our far-flung Beer Rangers affectionately refer to our Fort Collins brewery as the Mothership, a name that conjures images of earth shot from space and the interconnectivity of it all. Mothership Wit is brewed with wheat and barley malt, as well as coriander and orange peel spicing resulting in a balance of citrus and sour flavors held in suspension by a bright burst of carbonation.

Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a moderate white head and vigorous carbonation. Aroma is typical witbier---wheat, lemon, coriander, etc.---though light on the yeast. Flavor is similar, fairly grainy and lightly sweet. A decent middle-of-the-road white, less spiced than many but good.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Henderson, NV. This beer is a cloudy lemonade color with a medium and fizzy white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is kind of skunky with overripe fruit and spices behind it. Light-bodied with the skunky character less pronounced in the flavor but it is still there, along with some spice, fruit and wheat. The finish is fruity and short. I will have to try another bottle at some point as I am surprised to not enjoy a New Belgium beer.

Yikes. I am not sure what environmental hardships this beer endured before arriving to my palate via a 12 oz bottle, but my guess is that they were long, hard-fought, and not won. This beer reminds me of driving down a cold stretch of highway when the unmistakable scent of freshly hit skunk creeps its way in through the vents. And then that skunk pissed upon a pile of spiced bananas, into a glass already half-filled with water and then served it to you as this beer. Looks like ailing lemonade, but tastes worse. Much like the skunk, this beer apparently does not travel well.

from a 12 oz, and from the brewery. Pours nice and cloudy. All the good aromas you would expect from a classic wit bier. Spices balance nicely with the wheat mouthfeel and lighter flavor of this beer. Very enjoyable

Pours a pale golden color with some white cloudiness and a small but creamy head. Malty citrus and banana aroma. Good flavor of light citrus and grain. Still, not a great wit.

Cloudy pale yellow color with a light head. Strong aroma includes banana, coriander, and citrus. Flavor is a little too strong for my taste, and too complex. Thought it was ok initially but the strong flavors and awkward aftertaste made it loose my vote. My verdict is that it looks and smells way better than it tastes.

Pale yellow pour with a half finger thick off-white head. Aroma is citrusy with a hint of banana and spice. The taste is similar with a bit of malt coming through.
