| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 2, 2004 Appearance: Golden color and very effervescent with a creamy white head.
Aroma: Bread, fruit and a fresh hoppy presence.
Taste: Dry at the start with a somewhat sweet middle and a biting finish.
MF: Smooth and creamy with a presence of effervescence. The dry finish lingers.
IMHO: A pretty beer with a good aroma, but lacking a good balance of sweetness to offset the multileveled bitternes grat (433), ST. Louis, Missouri, USA

Pours a brilliiant...and I mean brilliant straw color. Head is very rocky and gushy. Nice little floaties swimming around like lost sea monkeys. I will show them to my mouth. Ohh so estery. Hoppy and dry, yeastilly aromatic. A masterpiece I think

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 28, 2004 Different, I'll give it that. And tons better than NB's "Loft."
Pours a honey color with a decent head that left no lace.
Smells mostly of malt, but there's something else going on that doesn't make itself apparent until the beer is tasted.
So, taste is, well, off. It's got a serious woodsy, moldy, spicy thing going on that I don't care for at all.
Mouthfeel is quite full and creamy, but there's a bit of an aftertaste that really brings the drinkability down. I wouldn't refuse another of these but it's definately not on my shopping list. wulfhere (217), Billings, Montana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2004 Pale yellow with a nice creamy head.
nose of malt, subtle hop bitterness, maybe a bit of bread.
Tastes hoppy with mild malt support. Moderate mouthfeel, some breadlike flavors.
Seems like an american pale to me in most respects. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 13, 2004 Pours light gold with a large head that dissapates quickly leaving behind some lacing. Malts, yeast/dough and some hops are throughout the aromas. Clean flavors of perhaps apricot, small malts and hops. Just a touch of spice. Mouthfeel is dry and clean. Body is fairly light. This isn't too bad. Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2004 I found this to be a fair session beer and a good brew to pour to introduce some friends to the Belgian Ale style (singel) on the cheap. First tried it a local beer fest and didn't love it, but bought a six pack to re-try in the fall and liked it more. Nice floral (almost perfumey) nose and american hoppiness. Has the definitive New Belgium juicy-fruit-flavor that I'm not in love with, but it is a refreshing beer. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2003 Crystal golden hue with a big foamy white head and very good lacing. Aroma hints of malt, earthy yeast, hayfield, lemon, pear, pepper and touch soapy. The taste has layers of sweet fruit tones upon which a yeasty twang and accompanying spice are detected. A wonderfully balanced and easy to drink beer. The mouthfeel is dry and chalky towards the finish, lively beforehand. Straightforward and simple yet sublime brew. New Belgium hits a homer again.
