But its a case of less is not more, as lots of what I liked in the others seems absent here. Good, but not their best. Kaya161 (1129), San Diego, California, USA

I really enjoyed the addition of bitter hops to the fruitiness present in their double and tripple. I actually thought this their try at an APA until I read the label...still a good brew though. beerguy101 (3929), Newark, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2002 Medium gold color, medium head. A full-bodied Belgian single ale, malty and hoppy. The malts are slightly sweet, while the hops are slightly spicy. Full complex flavors. Full bodied, yet light and refreshing. Question: Belgian estery yeast or some added cane sugars? Can’t tell, but it taste really nice. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth, Aftertaste is slightly bitter. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 27, 2002 Very interesting brew. Crystal clear deep golden in color with a minimal head. Aroma of sour yeast and hops. initial taste is malty, but not overwhelmingly so. It quickly moves into a spicy dryness before finishing in a quick, deep hop bitterness. A great quaffer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2002 I got wondrous lacing on mine--as regular and geometric as I’ve had it, although once it is gone you’re left with a very typical looking pale ale. The aroma is somewhat muted, but the flavor is unquestioned--strongly hoppy and dry, but with a piercing bitterness that did not linger on too long. I agree with those who would say that to call this a Belgian seems a bit of a stretch. The carbonation was a bit sharp at times.
