jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Jan 29, 2009 Golden in color with a small white head. Aroma is of spices, grain and yeast. Taste is basically the same with a light toast flavor. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Apr 5, 2008 Golden yellow in color with a decent head and clear. Nice hoppiness in the aroma with some spices and wheat. Taste is some wheat and spices. Easy to drink right down. Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Feb 23, 2008 May 2007 - Golden yellow color, clear, with very small head and next to no lacing. Slightly funky aroma with honey malts. Flavor was tart apples and a lot of peppery spices. A little short on the barnyard funk and a little sweet. Highly carbonated. It could pass for one of the lesser authentics. Not bad. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Feb 11, 2008 Clear amber with a fleeting head. Mild dry yeasty smell of herbs, spices. Taste follows the smell with herbs spices and a detracting dia, diac, oh what the fuck that burnt fake butter taste. Decent smell bad flavor here. 11606 fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Dec 20, 2007 Draught at Cricket’s Grill, Waco Golden color. An ok beer, with some caramel taste, some sweetness, and a quite evident spicy character. Dogbrick (2813), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 10, 2007 Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. This beer is a clear dark yellow-gold color with a medium and foamy white head that has good retention. Stringy latticework of lacing. Aroma of earthy malt, honey and some spicy hops. Medium-bodied with a spiced character and layers of sweet fruit, malt and hops flavors. The finish is grassy hops and spice, with a lingering fruit aftertaste. Overall this is a pretty good Saison. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 28, 2007 12oz bottle, Fall 2006 vintage. normally i wouldn’t rate a bottle that has passed its best before date but I never rated this last year and I have a good memory of it. this is from a bottle cellared a little over 1 year. pours clear golden with creamy white head. nose is yeasty, buttery, doughy, and medicinal. flavor is sweet bread, banana, yeasty, and citrusy. body is pretty watery and slightly syrupy feel to it. i wouldn’t say this aged poorly, it was always pretty bad to begin with. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Oct 24, 2007 As it sets in the glass after the pour from the 12 ounce glass, a clear golden amber with a substantial bright white creamy head last and last, finally when it does settle, the lace provides a firm sheet to obscure the glass. Ah, the nose, wet hay and the old barnyard, hints of hops and spices, sweet and true to the style, start is perfectly malted, nice touch of sweet and sour, top medium in feel. Finish has a pleasing bit of sweetness along side the tangy hop spiciness; quite dry aftertaste glues itself to the palate, a fine addition to the style, which is a favorite of mine.
