Commercial Description:
New Belgium's seasonal release, Saison, pays tribute to Belgian farmhouse ales brewed to celebrate the fall harvest. Pale bronze in color, our Saison is slightly spicy and delicately hopped. A sweet malty note glides along with herbal tones produced by an authentic Belgian yeast strain. The finish is surprisingly dry.
Originally, local brewers crafted Saison beers for seasonal workers in the farming community to enjoy at the end of their day. With typical hoppy character and an intriguing Belgian twist, Saison will appeal to hop lovers and wheat beer drinkers alike. Whether you're pushing a plow or a pile of paper work, Saison will help you bask in the afterglow of a job well done.
Saison - Enjoy the season.
Pale bronze in color, this delicately hopped ale has a bright, yeasty, artisanal quality worthy of toasting those long autumn sunsets.

This beer pours a deep yellow amber with a medium white head leaving some lacing down the sides. It has a very floary estery smell to it! A little pungent! I like that. The taste kinda smacks you in the head... Very much a belgian style beer! Very well crafted beer! Cheers!

The best thing about moving from Washington, DC, to St. Louis, MO, is that I am now west of the Mississippi and can get New Belgium ales at my local establishments. This one popped up in the grocery store’s beer aisle (another great thing about St. Louis), and I just had to grab a 6-pack. An interesting Belgian fall seasonal with a mild aroma and flavor, but overall very good. One of those perfect ales for that period between summer and fall. Pick this one up right now!

Pours a clear gold color with a large head, reducing itself to lacing in little time. It doesn’t seem right that this beer is clear....Oh well. Smells fruity and spicy, tough for me to describe exactly right. But it’s a good aroma, and strong. Taste is not TOO far off from other NB offerings, with some subtle fruit flavors, a light yet creamy malt flavor, some graininess and spiciness as well. Luckily, the beer scores points for being well balanced, as none of these ingredients were in offensive quantities. However, the finish didn’t have enough of a presence for me. Still, this is enjoyable.

Glad to see a change in New Belgium’s seasonals, now if they would add Porch Swing back I’d be a happy guy. The saison pour clear and golden with lots of lively carbonation and a fluffy off-white head. Too bad this is a filtered saison. Aroma has pepper, coriander, some graininess, nectarine and yeastiness. Body is pretty light for the style. The taste starts off with coriander and crisp malt, some earthy fruits that are slightly fake tasting and lots of spice bite. The finish has even more coriander then crisp spicy hops linger for a short time - not too much of a finish. For an reasonably priced six pack, non-bottle conditioned saison this is good. This can in no way be compared to Fantome, Saison Du Ponte or the like, but for what it is - it is fine.

From a 12 oz bottle purchased in Kansas City. The body is bright medium gold with a thin white colored head. The aroma has some dry hay with tobacco and roasted almonds. The taste has some banana peels along with some roast peanuts. There is also a little bit of dry hay in the finish. A nice drinkable saison, but not very interesting.

Bottle: nice blend of flavors in this golden yellow brew, spices, clove, lemon, yeast notes, a little bready, and some fruitiness. Complex, yet simple to enjoy.

Pour is a bright golden with a small white head. Aroma is cloves and spice with some yeastyness in there. Flavor is sweet with notes of banana and cloves. Pretty darn god for a saison made right in here the usa.

Clear with white head. Banana jumps out at me, cloves and spice. Smooth palate with more banana and a mellow malt flavor with a little bitterness to round it out.
