Commercial Description:
New Belgium's seasonal release, Saison, pays tribute to Belgian farmhouse ales brewed to celebrate the fall harvest. Pale bronze in color, our Saison is slightly spicy and delicately hopped. A sweet malty note glides along with herbal tones produced by an authentic Belgian yeast strain. The finish is surprisingly dry.
Originally, local brewers crafted Saison beers for seasonal workers in the farming community to enjoy at the end of their day. With typical hoppy character and an intriguing Belgian twist, Saison will appeal to hop lovers and wheat beer drinkers alike. Whether you're pushing a plow or a pile of paper work, Saison will help you bask in the afterglow of a job well done.
Saison - Enjoy the season.
Pale bronze in color, this delicately hopped ale has a bright, yeasty, artisanal quality worthy of toasting those long autumn sunsets.

This was a bit of a letdown. A fairly weak aroma, but what was there was slightly yeasty and sweet. Flavors were hard to come by too, but it was grassy with a peppery finish. I will try again to see if it was a bad bottle, but this just didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t horrible, but sometimes being blah is horrible enough.

Bottle: Not the best aroma but a decent fruity odor along with a stonger malt presence. Clear gold body with decent white head. Flavor has a zesty sour citrus to the beer. Carbination will give you a good lemon citrus belch along the way till finish. Citrus zesty lemon aftertaste on palate.

Finally getting around to rating this brew. Grain, lemon and hay aromas; syrupy and yeasty with notes of honey and pepper; soapy and astringent finish.

On Tap @ the Tempe "Tour de fat" event. Refreshing, copper-colored beer with a light sweetness, hints of black pepper, clove and cinnamon. Very drinkable, but a word of caution. This beer does NOT go well with pizza.

Thank you hopdog. Copper colour with significant white head. A yeasty and mildly spicy aroma. Somewhat medium or less mouthfeel and drying aftertaste of saison-like ale. This is not a Fantome, but is a reasonably tasty pepper spicy chai cardemon drink.

12oz, Best before 15JAN07. Pours a clear golden with a fading one finger off white head. Aroma has the typical Belgian yeast that they use in the Abbey and Trippel, with some bananas, dusty biscuits, bananas and maybe a little brown sugar. Flavor is quite different and more like a saison. Has some tangy oranges and spices, with the aforementioned bananas, yeast and toasty malts--somewhat sweet but not too bad. Light to medium carbonation, body is much the same. Not as good as their Biere de Mars, but not too bad.
