Papsoe (10267), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 7, 2007 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a cloudy, pale pilsener golden with a small, white head - looks pretty much like a Belgian Wit. Sweetish, fruity, berry-like aroma. Medium body, sweetish, lightly malty with very fruity accents. Also in the flavours this reminds me mostly of a Belgian Wit although with a completely different spicing - more exotic. The finish is quite bitter. Interesting. 280307 BückDich (4558), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 25, 2007 Bottle: A pale yellow color with an overzeleous puffy white head. The nose is bright with pretention as i’m only getting a bit of citrus, yeast and pale malt. What’s up with this badass ingredient list if you’re not going to highlight them? The flavor is thin, is this another Loft relabel? Some husk and orange peel, a bit of floral hops. Meh. Supremely underwhelming. This bottle sold itself out. Cornfield (4329), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 11, 2008 I’m not sure what New Belgium was after here, but it wasn’t a second purchase by me. Looks fine, a sparkling pale gold with a smallish white head. It smells of freshly rinsed iceberg lettuce, cane sugar, pale malt, and some sort of berry or another. It had a kind of sour vegetal flavor with a light herbal bitterness. The vegetables and fruit were all fresh, but that’s really not what I’m looking for in any beer. JPDIPSO (4267), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Apr 10, 2007 Heavily hazed straw color with a moderate fluffy white head. Aromas of raw wheat, lime zest, dry yeast and lemon grass. Heavy flavors of pale malt and oats linger throughout the quaff. Key limes, white grapes and a generic bitterness wanders in and out of the grains. A funky herbal brew. Ernest (4250), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 9, 2007 Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (dough), with light notes of tree bark, lime zest, dish rag, and bitter defeat. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, husky, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. More evidence that New Belgium has stopped trying.
