Has a sweet, comple caramel toffee and light fruity nose with a touch of earthy peat. Starts with good malty fullness and some caramely peaty character well balanced with some berry fruity flavor before a slightly warming dark caramel finish. A pretty enjoyable and true to style Scotch ale. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Pours a semi-hazy brownish amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, a hint of peat, and a touch of smoked honey. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of toffee, caramel malt, some roasted nuts, smoked honey and a touch of vanilla. Finish is semi-sweet, malty with a candy caramel aftertaste that quickly disappears. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Aroma of peat and caramel. The peat drifts in the taste to the band-aidy side of life. More caramel and sweet malt. DalzAle (509), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA

Light pumpkin colored pour, little carbonation and an awesome aroma that reminded me of a subdued version of makers mark. Flavor was caramelly scotch, booze and very well balanced. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2009 A solid malty aroma on this hazy headless pour. A really sweet carmel honey body. Fantastic. corby112 (766), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Pours a hazy dark copper/chestnut brown with deep golden orange/ruby hues when held to a light source and 1.5 finger frothy off-white head that slowly fades into a lasting cap which leaves sporadic splotches of lacing.
Slightly smokey caramel malt aroma with hints of hazelnut, honey, molasses, caramel candy, butterscotch, toffee and biscuit. Subtle ops also make an appearance but this smells just like a piece of caramel candy.
Medium bodied with a slight touch of smokiness as well as a strong spicy and hop forward flavor. Oily, buttery body with some caramel malt, caramel candy, butterscotch, toffee and butter. I guess this is what’s called diacetyl. Very different but not my thing.
