| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 4, 2008 Updated: May 4, 2009On draft at the Karl Strauss reception during the CBC week. Pours a very nice amber hue with a medium head that diminishes rather quickly. The nose is very malt driven with a tad of sweetness and some roasted nut notes. The flavor is a great balance of rich deep malts alongside of crisp, bright floral hops. This ESB has a good dryness and it ends nice and quick. I can’t wait to try Simon’s Imperial Brown and his English IPA. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Draught Deep brown with foxy highlights and a mossy shine; smalllish head. Malty, with an almondlike aroma. A sweetish underbuild, but well-(orangey, citrussy)hopped in flavour - oh surprise, surprise. Slick, but dry, not in the least from the rather un-British hopoils. Well, ’nuff said. Beginning SoCal brewer.
