Tasted at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Golden cooper with a creamy white head. Sweet earthy aroma and a malty musty taste.

Pours with a deep amber body topped by a medium thick to thick head with little lacing. It’s slightly sweet, malty and biscuity with a fairly strong bitter hops note. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly astringent.

Dark amber-brown, no sustaining head, fair clarity. Nose is subtle, mostly toasty Malta with a touch of nuts and english hops. Slight diacetyl in the nose and flavor. Smooth even malt profile with fair hop bitterness to balance. Slick texture and moderate carbonation. Easy drinking and malty ESB, the hint of diacetyl detracts slightly.

Tap @ Toronado San Diego. Pours a clear medium copper color with a wispy off white head. Nice lightly spicy and hoppy nose. Taste is also lightly spiced with good malts balance.

On tap at The Neighborhood in San Diego. Deep flashy copper, dense white head. Nutty and toasty aroma. Generously malty palate, nutty and toasty, with an uplifting fruitiness in the finish. Very nice.

On-tap at PP C’Bad. Pours hazy amber with a moderate, fizzy white head, lots of thin sticky lace. Smells malty bitter with some slight sweetness. Tastes malty bitter throughout with a slight fruity sweetness towards the finish but the bitterness lingers. Medium body, good carbonation. Very, very nice beer.

On draft at the Karl Strauss reception during the CBC week. Pours a very nice amber hue with a medium head that diminishes rather quickly. The nose is very malt driven with a tad of sweetness and some roasted nut notes. The flavor is a great balance of rich deep malts alongside of crisp, bright floral hops. This ESB has a good dryness and it ends nice and quick. I can’t wait to try Simon’s Imperial Brown and his English IPA.

Draught Deep brown with foxy highlights and a mossy shine; smalllish head. Malty, with an almondlike aroma. A sweetish underbuild, but well-(orangey, citrussy)hopped in flavour - oh surprise, surprise. Slick, but dry, not in the least from the rather un-British hopoils. Well, ’nuff said. Beginning SoCal brewer.
