Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Bottle shared by Ethan. Light clear amber-brown pour with off-white head. Grainy malt nose and sweet toffee taste that actually reminded me of cotton candy for some reason. Crisp and tasty.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Nice complex-fruity aroma. Prickly-fruity start, notes of plum and peach, finish a bit dry and woody. Aroma very interesting with every gulp. Tastes good, but not really like an Alt.

Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured clear brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted caramel and tart citrus aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where met with one of the top six active bottled beers for style.

Bottle. Poured an amber color with sweet malt aroma. Flavor was also very sweet with noticable maple and some hops and finished very mellow. Another solid NG beer.

Bottle. Pours orange with enormous beige head. The aroma is fruity malt and toffee with some spicy and yeasty notes. The flavor is also quite fruity, with orange, prune, and pear mostly. There’s a nice herbal, slightly citric hop profile that lends just a little bit of bitterness to the finish. The aftertaste is interesting, reminds me of a combination of sassafrass and nutmeg. Pretty good alt, I must say.

12oz bottle from woodmans, kenosha..... pours a medium orange brown with a moderate creamy white head.... aroma of grainy sweet malt, bread, and perhaps a little grass....flavors are on the sweeter end with grainy/bready malt with some added fruit qualities and a spicy somewhat bitter finish. nice mouthfeel but something seems a little off/chemical on the backend.

Bottle shared by emacgee - thanks, Ethan! Another wonderful beer to style from NG. Nice amber pour with a lustrous head, sweet toffee nose. This one’s got crisper personality and more hops than I’m used to getting from an alt. The body is nice and smooth, and it’s basically a very rich, complex rendition of the style.

Thanks to TheCheeseMan for the extra! Pours a translucent amber with a frothy white head. The nose is sweet, caramel, lightly bready malt feel, earthy malt, some leafy hop character. The flavor is sweet malt, crisp mildly citrusy hop feel, buttered popcorn, very palatable. Crisp on the mouthfeel. Seemed to act more like an ale with the crispness and hop character. Tasty alt though.
