Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Bottle pours clear gold with a decent head. The aroma is of malt. The flavor is malt, some white grape, perhaps some spice, and pretty alcoholic. The palate is pretty thick. Overall, this is not what I expected with an Alt, but not bad.

courtesy of cigarcitybrew. Pours amber with tan head. Aroma of nice oak notes. Taste, caramel malts, with light fruits and wood - oak. Some spices and hops add for a light tingly finish. Easy to drink and yet another New Glarus hit.

Bottle courtesy of Retorp by way of TheCheeseMan. Pours a clear copper with a one finger off-white head that fades to a ring and leaves good lacing. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, oak, and earthy hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

12 oz. bottle - Pours clear burnt copper color with medium head that quickly fades. Aroma - caramel malt and grain. Flavor - not good, tastes like old grains and aluminum. Palate - light mouthfeel with average carbonation. Finish is slightly dry and short with grassy aftertaste. Overall - New Glarus has disapointed me once again. This beer is sub par and is nothing I would drink again. PLEASE..put more flavor in your beer !!

Bottle in trade from wisrarebeer. Thanks. Pours a light amber with a short lived beige head. Smell is bland nutty to fruity malt. Taste is oddly sweet and overcarbonated. Tastes weird with a chemical like flavor and lots of sweetness. Blech, I dont care for this. Normally New Glarus makes some of my favorite stuff, but this was a huge miss for me with a strange unappealing chemical or alcoholic flavor.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Hazy amber pour, thin uneven white head. Mild malty aroma, slight wet grains, pretty clean overall. Taste is malty as well, some light earthy hops, sweeter finish. Perhaps a bit heavy for the style, but still a nice alt.
