Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Pours a very beautiful murky old with a very thick off white head. Carbonation is nice out of my Sam Adams Sensory Glass. Smells bready, earthy, crisp, fruity. Tastes lightly of bread and very lightly fruity, crisp and refreshing, but a bit lacking in depth. Mouth is light to medium in body, high in carbonation. Excellent beer and another winner from New Glarus, quickly becoming my favorite brewery I can’t get.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Aroma is pretty sweet with hints of grass. Flavor is way sweet with touches of oak tannins, char, and vanilla, with a touch of alcohol.

Courtesty of pfoxyjohn. Pours a copper color with a quick fading fizzy head. Nothing left on top. Aroma is musty, notes of berries, caramel. Interesting beer. There’s an alcohol sting and flavors are spicy hops, sweet caramel and toffee, sugars, and some fruity aspects like apple and cranberry (at least that’s what I thought I tasted!). Sweet caramel malt shows again in the finish and aftertaste. Again, this is interesting. I only knew the alcohol was this high after a little research upon receiving the bottle. Hard to rate because this went from very good to not my thing and back and forth throughout the whole beer. Probably somewhere in between. Thanks John!

12oz bottle. Slightly hazy, dark amber pour with a very light tan head. Very sweet aroma, a little spice. More sweetness in the flavor, a slight bitterness, some caramel qualities as well, pretty good.

Pours brown with a thin off white head. Smells of roses, sweet malt, some earthy hints. Tastes sweet and spicy with some earthiness on the finish.
