Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

I’ve had countless bottles of this and was quite impressed when first released. It has a nice oaken flavor atop a deep sweet brown sugar and heavily caramelized malts. Pours to a deep rusty brown body with a thin tan head. The beer is quite a nice beer from a lowly produced style.

Aroma: Sweet malt aroma with a good hop addition.
Appearance: Dark Amber in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Nice sweet earthy malt flavor. The hops added made for a near perfect balance. A nutty flavor also was in this brew.
Palate: Dry finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very nice ALT beer.

Cloudy amber with a decent beige head. Big malty nose. Flavor is tangy and earthy: toffee, caramel sweetness with a dash of hops. Highly enjoyable.

Bottled. This one is very much in the vain of Uerige Sticke or Doppel Sticke, which I wasn’t really expecting. Very sweet. Prickly carbonation, with a spritzy, pithy back. Loads of caramel, molasses. Sweet all the way. A bit oxidized. Not my cup of tea, though this is well crafted.

Pours golden orange with medium/large frothy off-white head and minimal haze. Aroma is malts, fruit, ginger, and toffee. Flavor is similar with nicely balanced sweet malts and hop bitterness. Finishes rather sweet. Fairly light body. Barely noticeable alcohol warmth at the end. A bold creation by NG.
