Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Another NG bottle sent graciously as a trade extra by pantanap! Im stoked on getting to try all these elusive little bastards from New Glarus. Pours cloudy bronze with good carbonation and a thick white head. Kind of a strange aroma of stale grains and old Hallertau hops. Also some notes of buttery toffee and malt. Very sweet flavor profile with some grape and apple fruit tones. Finishes with lots of toffee, caramelized sugar and warming alcohol.

Pours a decent deep copper brown with a finger thick tan head. Nose and flavor is quite a bit of butterscotch and sweet, with a touch of corn husk like graininess.

Thanks to Aspidites for sharing this at the Valley brewing tasting. Lots of caramel and butterscotch flavor in this one.

Rating #3300. MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering, January 10, 2009. Orange color with a thin head. Light caramel and sugary aroma. A little appley fruit flavor. Sweet grains, marshmallow and sugar. Not traditional, but delicious.

Clear copper color with a firm, off-white head. Sweet, sweet aroma with a hint of spice. Deep, warming, dark fruit sweetness with a spicy bitterness lurking in the background. Medium bodied and very smooth on the palate. Long, lingering finish rounds it out nicely.

Distictly German! This toasty amber beer was nice and warm on a winter night. It seemed strong. This site doesn’t even list the alcohol.

Bottle, from the Co-op in Viroqua, WI. Basic copper, white head. Warming brandy and almond nose, golden raisins. Warming, refined distilled fruit flavor. Full and mouthfilling but at the same time very delicate. A rather drinkable sort of beer, though there is still the sense it is kind of strong. (Would love to know how strong...)
