Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Trade with noncaloric. Thick head on dark amber. bubble gum scent with a hint of eucalyptus. Kind of pleasant but a bit wierd. Very strong malty flavour is very "in your face". A bit mediciny with a hint of pepper in the finish. A bit heavy for me.

120z thanks to pantanap. Pours a ruby amber with a large off white frothy head. Great retention and lacing. Aromas of caramel malt, some light piney hops and a fair amount of fruitiness. Flavors are sweet caramel malt and fruits, and a bit vegetale. Palate is where it should be for the style. Carbonation is spot on.

Bottle. Pours an orange-amber with substantial head. Taste a little sweet. I was not a big fan of the after taste, which was a bit like some kind of ammonia-based cleaner. Maybe I’m just not a fan of the Altbier style.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with 2 finger tan head. Lightly cherry malty body with some light caramel, sugar and a light citrus hoppy finish. Good brew.

Tasted 12/30/08. 12oz bottle. An unactivated pour leaves a trace layer of gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Slightly hazy with an amber golden hue. Moldy off-white head. Aromas of dark rustic breads and caramel. Mild spice undertone. Medium bodied with a surprisingly big, bold palate. Big malty character. Good blast of bitterness, either from the yeast or the hops. Sweet citrus hops in the finish. Touch fruity, nutty and slightly sour. Warms splendidly. Tight tart tingle. Mildly lingering finish. Wow! This is terrific!

12 ounce bottle from a friend. Thanks Jenny! Pours a copperish strawberry color with a medium head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma is nuts, berries, some alcohol and bready notes. Taste is hugely toffee with those same sweet-tart berry like fruity notes. Medium bodied.

Aroma of nutty caramel and toasted bread with spicy hops and a certain indescribable musty character that I assume comes from the yeast. Clear amber/orange in color with a tall off-white head that sticks around. Flavors of toasted malt, nutty caramel and strong minerals mid-taste. It finishes with a stronger noble-hop spice. What is that "spice" anyway? Fuller body, nice and warming and a dry finished. This feels well balanced, and very satisfying to drink.

Sampled at Bob (Skyview) tasting. A really nice alt. Caramel flavor with that distinctive alt taste, which for some reason I have trouble describing. Earthy and herbal hop notes and cereal grain. Some tea like qualities. Very impressed! I could drink this regularly. I’m curious as the ABV on this.
