Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of nutmeg and other spices as well as medium notes of malt and caramel, leading to a dry spicy finish. Thanks CaptainCougar for coming to Denmark and sharing this.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of CaptainCougar. Slightly hazy amber golden with an off-white head. Sweetish caramel aroma, very biscuity. Medium body, sweet caramel, roasted malts and fruit. Solid hop bite in the finish. Delicious. 300809

12 fl oz bottle, courtesy of CaptainCougar. Pours hazy orange to brown with a small tan head. Light chemical to bubblegum aroma. Estery, distinct phenolic, light breadish roasted and with a mild fruity note. Fruity and estery bubblegum flavoured finish.

Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a clingy-lacing froth of light tan head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramely German malts with a mild noble hoppiness. Body starts with nice fullness and sweet malty flavor well-balanced with the perfect amount of bittering hops. Finishes semi-sweet and fairly crisp. Very true to style and enjoyable, but that is no surprise coming from this brewery. One of the best altbiers I have had.

Slightly hazed, light copper color. Moderate beige head. Caramel, and toasted malt dominate the nose. A hint of dark cherries and herbal hops in the background pique the senses. An old world aroma. Crisp and light on the tongue. First thought after drinking is – interesting. Fruity, nutty, woody, malty, all seem to jump around. Hints of warmth in the finish and linger. A bittersweet linger with nuances of oak . Not quite what I expected, but this certainly qualifies as an authentic alt.

Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured clear brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted caramel and tart citrus aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where met with one of the top six active bottled beers for style.
