Commercial Description:
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber, small off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel and vague sugar notes. Sweet bread, malt and caramel notes for the flavor profile, touch of hops. Semi dry finish.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear darker copper color with thick frothy off-white creamy colored foam with thick lacing. Aroma is surprisingly fruity and sharp, rich nicely oxidized malts, some cherry, seemingly starting to turn sour in a flemish way, mellow banana/phenolic, some grassiness compliments the rich smooth aged malts very well, munich malts maybe, rich toffee-like. Flavor follows, this is a very cool beer, flavor follows the aroma except the the wood vessels and rich toffee are more dominant, love the slight phenolic sour twang, slightly reminds me of the capital blonde doppelbock but with more character, some hop fruitiness strongly accents the alcohol and rich maltiness very well, dries out in the middle before the fairly quick sharp rich finish leaving a woody brown sugar aftertaste, actually this beer is very butterscotchy, yup it is butterscotch. Medium bodied with fizzy fluffy carbonation, a bit glassy sticky feeling. Sour cheesy woody butterscotch... fantastic!

A faint tangy berry aroma that I can’t identify, not strong. Murky ochre, medium yellow head with little retention. The flavor is of whiskey with a bready rye finish. Not representative of the altbier style. Should be an american strong. Has some bright spots, but I have to say I’m starting to tire of these whiskey soaked messes.

12 oz. bottle - thanks bvc!! clear, dark gold; think bubbly white head; lots of carbonation; candy, malty, yeasty aromas with faint tartness, caramel and wheat; soft and slightly dry; bananas, candy malt, creamy sweet; wow, an amazing beer; deceptively simple; crisp, clean and sweet

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of nutmeg and other spices as well as medium notes of malt and caramel, leading to a dry spicy finish. Thanks CaptainCougar for coming to Denmark and sharing this.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber. Aroma is predominantly bread and caramel with faint earthy hops. Taste is crisp and fruity with a yeast finish. Weird acetone-like aftertaste is a big detriment, however. Mouthfeel is light and effervescent. Good, but almost great.

12 fl oz bottle, courtesy of CaptainCougar. Pours hazy orange to brown with a small tan head. Light chemical to bubblegum aroma. Estery, distinct phenolic, light breadish roasted and with a mild fruity note. Fruity and estery bubblegum flavoured finish.
