The aroma is of fresh apples, some caramel, and toasty brown ale base. Pours a golden brown with a thin non lasting head. Very nice apple cidery flavors up front. Tart, crisp, refreshing apples. This is followed by an ever so light brown ale base that is a little toasty and nutty. Really nice lasting crisp apple flavors. This was really enjoyable. fidel (933), Livermore, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 30, 2009 This Unplugged NG pours a clear golden amber with a small white head that quickly drops to a cap. Some wispy lacing. Aroma of McIntosh apples, graced by caramel and Granny Smith greenies. Crisp and clean light body. Tastes like a topnotch cider in spite of the brown ale base. Very natural tasting and not at all cloying. Loads of fresh McIntosh flavor, accented by a touch of caramel malt. Some green apple tartness but this is more red apple sweet than tart. Excellent! aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA

Aromas of apples and cherries. Flavors of apples, tart fruit, and a nice sweet finish. Palate is medium bodied an perfectly carbonated. This beer is all about apples, take it for what it’s worth and it is awesome! Looking for something more complex then look elsewhere. GAManiac (1153), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2009 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Pours a clear and very bubbly golden with a small white head that stays on as a ring as the bubbles continue to stream up from the bottom.
The aroma is, not surprisingly, dominated by apples and it smells like a really strong apple cider or fresh apple juice. Hints of caramel malts are dominated by the sweetness.
The first sip is a blast of tart apple sweetness that zings the tongue before the caramel malts show up briefly. The finish is very sweet with the apples but also has a slight bitterness that lingers into the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel is well carbonated with lots of sugary sweet apples coating the palate and slightly dry.
This is another great fruit beer from New Glarus who certainly know their way around these styles. The drinkability may be slightly limited due to the massive sweetness, but it’s still a great fruit beer. arrogantb (701), Denver, Colorado, USA

12oz bottle courtesy of ughsmash, light orange color, looks like apple juice. First whiff is apples and apple juice, surprise! Smells really sweet, not sure if I like it. Very strange taste, like the malts are wrestling the apples for control of the beer. Not a bad beer at all just very, very weird.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Bottle. Poured a pink-tinged golden color with a short-lived, thin off-white head that diminished to a light ring. Aroma of red apples, cherry pie filling, some sugary sweetness, and a faint wheatiness. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some tart hints of apple that finishes with a cidery sweetness. Low carbonation, sweet on the palate. Overall, too one dimensional for my tastes. It seemed more like a sweet cider. I’ll stick with the Berliner weiss. kiefdog (1588), Tampa, Florida, USA
