BillKismet (1897), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 5, 2009 After all these years, not at all what I was expecting. An alluring red-orange with a minimal head. Ethereal cherry bomb aroma, followed by a nice cherry flavor, that is relatively well-balanced. High amounts of unfermentables, with a soft sweetness that does not become too much. An excellent dessert libation, but not remotely beery. sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA Apr 4, 2009 got this bottle from a friend after his road trip, thanks Andi! aroma is cherries, cherries, and more cherries. pours a beautiful crisp red with very little head. lots of carbonation and great blending make this a supurb drinker. cherries are nice and tart with a mild sweetness on the finish. finishes very clean with little after taste. great brew for a special occasion. Block (363), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Apr 1, 2009 Have to thank weitz15 for this one. Red pour with a small white head. Lots of carbonation. Nice flavor of cherry with some yeast at the finish. Very easy to drink. A lot like wine but lacks the dry bite at the finish. weitz15 (67), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Apr 1, 2009 Every bit what it claims to be. Cranberry-color pour, red cream head. The flavor is full of cherries, with some bite at the end, much like wine. This is the marriage between beer and wine, after all. This brew is more like wine, however, This is not a beer I would drink more than once in a great while, but it is definitely a good variation to the usual brew. Blaze312 (129), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Mar 30, 2009 750ml bottle. This one pours a deep red color. Quite a bit of carbonation in this one. Taste is of cherries all around. This one reminded me of a champagne in a way with the amount of carbonation present. Pretty good stuff. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Mar 29, 2009 750ml bottle. Deep dark cherry red color. Nice head that fades out after a minute or so. Light faint cherry pie aroma. This has some of the most solid dark cherry flavors of any beer I’ve ever had. Practically cherry juice with a slight bitter edge. Absolutely delicious, the kind of beer I can sip on all day. On a side note, I think its funny that a beer like this is so revered and highly rated whereas Lindemans and other sweet Lambics get bashed and dismissed as non-authentic. tpd975 (95), Riverview, Florida, USA Mar 29, 2009 A: Pours a nice reddish brown kind of color. Nice bubbles rising to the top. Can’t wait to taste.
S: The definition of cherry. Ton of sweet cherry aroma. There is a malty biscutiy aroma in the background, but man this smells like I cracked open a jar of cherries.
T: 5* no doubt about it. Huge cherry flavor like I have tasted in no other brew. There is some cinnamon in there as well. God I love cherry pie but would trade the best one on earth for another bottle of this beer. There is some cinnamon in the background, and finishes with a bit of tartness.
M: Perfect. Medium to light bodied and refreshing. I shared this bottle with 3 others and to be honest I wish I had saved it all to myself.
D: The most drinkable beer ever. I would drink it until they scraped me off the floor. I may move to Wisconsin just to have a steady supply of this beer.
danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Mar 29, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Awiseman01. Pours a deep cherry red, almost ruby. Faded red head that fades. Nose is fully of cherry, like a homemade cherry pie filling. Flavors are full of the cherry filling too. Feel is well carbonated, syrupy. Wonderful flavors in this beer but drink in small amounts to avoid a stomach ache.
