robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Sep 24, 2008 bottle from the cheese man!! thank you!!
nice cloudy ruby pour with a creamy beige head. Aroma is amazing! tart cherries, and cherry pie. Smells just like my mothers cherry pie. The flavor is outstandng, its just like drinking cherry pie. Out standing tart and slightly sour cherries with touches of honey. Out standing beer, incredibly drinkable, just perfection! LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 16, 2008 Updated: Nov 1, 2008Bottle courtesy of xmarcnolanx. Pours a dirty brown/red with a small tan head. Aroma of those cherry icepops that come in 100-per box and you squeeze out of plastic wrapping. Flavor is lots of cherry syrup, cinnamon, baked cherry pie, and tartness. Not as luscious as Raspberry Tart, but still tasty. Slightly artificial to me though.
Update 11/01/08: Had this again and noticed a lot more tart cherry candies this time. Nice tartness! gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Sep 13, 2008 Split a bomber and while I liked this “beer” I don’t think more than a glass would be enjoyable. I put beer in quotes because this sure does not taste like a fruit beer. The cheery flavor is so overwhelming this beer is more like a cherry cider. However an interesting stimulation of the taste buds. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Sep 9, 2008 Bottle at a tasting; really lucky to have had this. color was brownish red with an off white head. Aroma of sweet cherry with some general maltiness. Flavor was fairly sweet with a whole damn lot of cherries. It was a bit medicinal, but not too negatively. Slightly cloying. Good for the style. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2008 Jesus what a beer. Nice ruby pour, not much of a head. Aroma of cherries and more cherries. Flavor is pure tart cherry fruit roll ups. Damn this one is so delicious. YES! sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 8, 2008 Updated: Dec 25, 2008Courtesy of Fishingnet.
Pours deep red/ruby with white head.
Aroma is loaded with fresh cherries.
Taste is fantastic. New Glarus has outdone itself on this one. Fresh cherries all over with a light tart note. Perfect mix between the hops and malts, making the beer not too bitter.
Highly drinkable. Something you will want to sip on and enjoy for a while.
Rerate update. Enjoyed some more of this beer, and truly is an amazing experience. New Glarus has hit the target with the best cherry beer that remains enjoyable, drinkable from beginning to end. Pure goodness. noncaloric (602), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 5, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009Bottle, flute. Aroma of tart cherries, slightly acetic, floral notes in the background. Cloudy orange-red, medium coral-colored head leaves vertical streaks of lace on the glass. Immense flavor of sweet-tart cherries. The tartness and carbonation provide a prickly mouthfeel that lasts ages on the tongue. All other flavors are a supporting cast, but are there: malts give a brown sugar cast to the sweetness, and a mellowness underneath all the sparkles on the palate. Hops add a touch of grapefruit to the tartness in the finish. Aromas of generalized tart fruit float through the mouth long after the mouth is empty, and licking the lips revives the sweet cherry. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle shared at the CA-GA cultural beer exchange hosted by alexanderj. Nice reddish brown pour. Aroma is cherries, very nice, and mostly sweet. Flavor is the same, nice sweet cherries but also some sour cherry skins. Really good blend; I really like good fruit beers.
