Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Mar 17, 2008 Pours a beautiful transluscent horizon red (I’m coining that) with a finger thick off-white head, leaving nice lacing. The nose is most similar to cherry juice, including marchiano and black. There is a note of cream in the aroma, too. The flavour is wonderfully tart, acidic and sweet cherries. There is a presence of mild molasses and herbal hops. It’s like candy, it’s so sweet, but not in a cloyong way because the herbal finsh adds some balance. The texture is velvety smooth and finishs with a tremendous lingering of semi-tart cherries and nougat sweetness. Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA Mar 16, 2008 Hazy medium red w/ ok head. Aroma is big fruity cherry and floury wheat. Big juicy cherry up front, tart finish. Very active carbonation tingles the tongue and complements the cherry acidity nicely. Given to me courtesy of JPDipso.
Tripplebrew (486), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Mar 15, 2008 Pours a copper amber brown with close to no head, just a hint of white lacing. Aroma is of cherry juicy juice, quite tart. Taste is of cherry pie---the tartness to a tea---surprisingly not overpowering. New Glarus again impresses me. IEBAILI (123), San Diego, California, USA Mar 10, 2008 Effervescent red brown sparkler, smells of beautiful tart cherries, intensely fruity; tastes more like a cherry pie than a malt beverage, but delicious nonetheless. The extremely high carbonation acts to balance the sweetness. sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 8, 2008 Bottle via trade with HogTownHarry. WOW !!! Pours a hazy, reddish brown, very small, beige head that diappeared quickly. Aroma is cherries, a bit vinuous, almost like a wine. Flavor is.....WOW!!! Cherries and more cherries, slightly sour and slightly tart. This is unlike any beer I’ve had before. Very well balanced, not too sweet, not too sour. This beer lived up to the hype in my opinion, can’t wait to let my other bottles sit and try them with a bit of age on them. I’ll finish with................WOW !!! greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Mar 7, 2008 750 ml bottle. 300th rated beer. Pours a murky red, no head. Big sweet cherry nose and flavor. Tastes like a piece of candy, but not overly sweet like some fruit beers. great sipping brew. Medium mouthfeel, smooth, high carbonation. Not a big fan of fruit beers, but this was excellent. tagz (334), USA Mar 6, 2008 pours cloudy red brown with minimal head. nice light aroma of dark cherries. the flavor is gritty dark fruits, loads of cherry, with some barley and beer like flavors on the back end. carbonation bubbles are tight and subtle. overall a pleasant drink, but really this tastes a lot like juice. i was expecting a drier, funkier drink along the lines of an ephemere, but sweet fruit dominates while yeast and beer take a back seat. bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Feb 28, 2008 Bottle: Courtesy of nflmvp...big thanks. Beautiful ruby color with a small, quick diminishing white head. Spritzy, cherry aroma...big shocker, some light malts and spice. Wow, this is just like a cherry cobbler. Heavily carbonated, massive cherry flavor along with some cinnamon, nutmeg and bread dough. Very light and extremely drinkable. Try as I may not to be swayed by the 100 overall on many of these brews, this one deserves it. Perfect.
