mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 13, 2008 [1000-20071223] 1pt9.4floz (c/o GregClow, w/ him, jerc). Super red sweet cherry pie aroma. Cloudy, dark bright red body with a long-lasting off-white head. Sweet cherry pie continues in the flavour along with tart cherry skins in the background. Medium body has a tart finish. Lingering on this simply allows even more exceptional characteristics to reveal themselves.
Other notes: Just before this bottle, we had been rating a superb <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/ottos-jolly-roger-imperial-stout/60439/41473/>Jolly Roger Imperial Stout (c/o boboski) and had decided on a whim to see what would happen if we mixed a little of the Red and the Roger together... The two beers on their own are lovely, lovely beverages, but together they made a remarkably memorable experiment for a cherry imperial stout...
Lastly, yay 1000 ratings! That was pleasantly unexpected. I should definitely thank the Toronto boys for letting me join in with them this past year -- now I’m totally hooked and it’s all your fault, jerc. ;) elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA Jan 12, 2008 Courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours a opaque red with a white head. Has huge hints of cherries. Alcohol not present. Seemed like a fruit juice more than a beer. Finished refreshing and clean on the tongue. Great for a fruit beer. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Jan 11, 2008 Wow! Thanx to Fantomas for this.A huge cherry aroma that smells of cherry pie crust and all.Lots of cherry on th eflavor with a nice balance of sourness and sweetness.Has a crisp bite on the tounge and was quite refreshing.Had a nice cherry aftertaste with a small warming in my belly.Well done.Thank you Adam.Make sure you look for my next trade request. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jan 11, 2008 Pours a hazy reddish with thin head. Aroma of fresh baked cherry pie, cherry juice, and a little bit of mustiness. The aroma is almost addictive. I couldn’t stop smelling it. The flavor is more sweet natural cherries followed by a little tartness. Perhaps a little more must and some funky wheat, and a touch of spice. Finishes a little tart with some lingering dryness and cherry flavor. Lively carbonation. Medium body. I got to get some more of this. Happy 1000 to me! ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jan 5, 2008 Updated: Dec 22, 2008This beer has it all! Pours orange with a wonderful red hue. Thick off white head and beautiful lacing. Excellent fresh cherry aroma flavor following suite. This beer is perfectly balanced between sour & sweet.!!! This is the best fruit beer i’ve ever tasted hrking (108), Muncie, Indiana, USA Jan 5, 2008 This beer is awesome. Hands down one of my top 10 favorites. This is taste more like a Hostess cherry pie than a beer. It is definitly a treat for sure . Not sure whether to drink my other bottle or keep it back and statre at it knowing the treasure that awaits my palate inside it! Get this beer and try it ..AWESOME! amishcaravan (237), Winona, Minnesota, USA Jan 3, 2008 Very strong scent of cherries. Not the fake colored cherries that you buy in a jar, but the scent of real cherries. Very smooth going down. Almost tastes like a soda with alcohol. This is a fruit beer that I would purchase again if I could find it. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Jan 3, 2008 As a general rule, i dont care for fruit beers. I typically avoid them. Ross pulled this out and said I would like. He was right. Pours out a nice cloudy red color with a decent pink head. aroma is full of cherries and sweetness. Flavor is the same. i was expecting it to be rather tart, but it wasnt. damn fine beer!
