realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA Nov 21, 2006 Bottle poured very cloudy light brown color with almost no head. The aroma was a wonderfull cherry with some small amounts of oak. The taste was plesantly tart with a nice cherry presants that was suprisingly not overpowering. Very enjoyable. Sombeast (151), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 20, 2006 Bottle. Cherry soda pop aroma with no discenable alcohol. Slightly cloudy pale red - chill / pectin haze?. Tart baking cherry flavor with a light sour aftertaste. Well carbonated and leaves a residual sweetness in the mouth. Pleasant and refreshing but initially a hair too close to a cherry soda for my taste. On second thought, this beer is holding up quite well as my wife and I work our way through it. On third thought, as the beer warms a bit the balance of flavor and sourness is developing nicely. Take your time and don’t drink this one too chilled. rickgordon (3285), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 20, 2006 [Bottled. Thanks Kramer.]
Hazy red-brown colour. Cherry stone and glue/almonds in aroma. Bit woody too. Sweet backbone with plain cherry. I’m puzzled - this is way too sweet. Was it sweetened with sugar? I know loads of cherries were added but this is not balance. Syrupy sweet this is. Fruity mustiness - good on you! Naah, this did not do it for me... diabel (1366), Aarschot, Belgium Nov 19, 2006 Tasted 2 vintages side by side, the 2006 one and the 1996 one. - Points for the 2006 one. 2006 Vintage Hazy red body, off-white head (small and mostly diminishing). Aroma of red candy, marzipan, ... Very sweet flavour, very artificial - candy-like. Lacks a lot of complexity which is to be found in the 1996 version. (5/3/5/2/8=2.3) 1996 Vintage Hazy, brown body, creamy lightly brown head. Sweet aroma of jam, applesauce, ... Lightly sweet, moderately sour flavour. This is very intense and really attacks your tastebuds. (4/4/8/4/16=3.6) It’s amazing there’s so much difference between these two vintages. Off course some effects will be due to aging, but the 1996 version still attacks your tastebuds (after 10 years), but the 2006 version doesn’t even have the guts to try to attack them. Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 16, 2006 (Bottle) Pours very suspect hazy brown/orange/red, like muddy seawater. Sweet cherry aroma with some cinamon. A slight peppery/spicy feeling. A bit sour but mostly sweet flavour with white sugar. Good mouthfeel untill the sugar kicks in. mfincher (15), Wills Point, Texas, USA Nov 13, 2006 Fantastic Brew! I bought it at the New Glarus Brewery in Wisconsin and hauled it home.(1,500 miles)So maybe my score is a little high, but as they say "getting there is half the fun". It pours a beautiful cherry red and it had a perfect balence of sour and fruit. If I ever have the chance I will buy it again Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 12, 2006 Maybe this day was my own remembrance of things past, but this beer brought back some memories on its own. The cherries, my god the cherries! Not overly sweet, not overly tart, reminded me of climbing my grandmother’s cherry tree and picking the sweet treats myself, devouring them, and spitting out the pits. The balance was nice but what surprised me was the depth of flavor. Beyond the sweet and the tart, I could taste the meat of the cherries all the way down to the slightly bitter center and the tanins of the pit. Ah! beerBB (132), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 3, 2006 Again thanks to my brother Chris. And like the Raspberry Tart well worth the wait. Dominant cherry aroma. Excellent sour cherry flavor that was the perfect balance of fruitiness and sourness. You could drink this forever. A must try!
