A very dark brown beer with a nice thick 2 finger head that never disappears and leaves some thick lacing. Aroma is cocoa and the flavor is as well. Light caramel and wheat notes. This is delightfully easy to drink and feels very smooth in the mouth. New Glarus does such great things with wheat. This is another example. Sparky27 (1642), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours almost black with a creamy grayish tan head. The nose is smoke, roasted wheat and light banana esters. The taste is sour wheat, cocoa and light smoke. Medium bodied – good stuff. The aroma has dark malt, ripe candied banana, molasses and cocoa - rich and full. Medium rich body that has a bite to it with flowing prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with a much lighter taste than the aroma, but many of the same traits. There seems to be a melding of different malts making this interesting & the banana aspects are just in the background. The finish is spicy, gets a bit thicker on the taste and seems to have darker malt presence. Very nice. islay (481), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 25, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Smoky, spicy (celery seed, cardamom among others) smell of charcoal and bacon, like a Memorial Day lakeside barbecue. Also a chocolate-covered raisin scent. Pours an effervescent, medium to dark brown. Large amount of dark beige / taupe head. Frothy lacing. Rich, dull sweetness in the taste with dry spices. Bubblegum flavor and a little bit of chocolate. Too sweet for me. Very little hops presence. Light body; watery. Soft. Fizzy in the palate yet undercarbonated, despite the large head. Like with many other wheat beers, the intriguing smell presages a disappointing taste. rustychiles (1071), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Pours a nice black color with a light tan head. Aroma is cloves, bananna, esthers, roasted barley, wheat, smoke and peat. Flavor is smoky, roasted barley, wheat, peat, chocolate, cloves, bananas.
Interesting brew, I enjoyed it. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2009 Banana and clove aromas with some light roasted notes, rasins, and some spices. Dark tan head with black body. Very thick and foamy head. Flavors of chocolate come through right away, some fruits, banana cream, caramel, with a light bitter roasty dryness in the finish. Very well balanced. Palate keeps the chocolaty duration around the tongue. Medium thickness with good carbonation. Very good. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 16, 2009 Dark brown pour with a thick foamy head. Some roasted malt in the aroma and spicy clove notes. Spicy flavor does not have any banana wheat beer fruitiness and that’s ok. Simple but not poorly made. juiceisloose (678), Windermere, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2009 Updated: Jun 19, 2009Courtesy fantomas23. Pours a really dark chocolate brown color that is almost opaque topped by a huge, foamy tan colored head that shows great retention. Some sudsy lacing drips down the glass and rejoins the body. The aroma shows roasted chocolate, toasted wheat, some coffee roast, and a hint of spices. The flavor follows with dry cocoa, roasted coffee, and caramel to go with the toasted wheat and cinnamon spices. Some earthy hops provide bitterness in the background. Medium bodied and really smooth and easy to drink. This is a really tasty wheat beer especially as it warms up. Another winner from the masters of wheat beers at New Glarus.
