Commercial Description:
Expect this beer to pour the deapest black body topped by an opulent head of lip smacking foam. Roasted chocolate and toasted caramel notes brim over the top. Lavish spice aromas of clove and cinnamon are promoted naturally by the yeast we import especially for this most individual of brews.

Bottle thanks to CMUBEERMAN! Pours opaque, brown black, tan-ish head. Aroma is smoke, honey wheat, molasses. Flavor is the same with emphasis and smoked (ham & pineapple) and very refreshing. This is probably the best dunkelweizen that I’ve had, but I am very partial to smoky beers. The yeastiness is tolerable here and not as in your face as some weizens or dunkelweizens. Yum!

Pours pitch black with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma is slight smoke and chocolate, clove, banana, yeast, and plenty of spiciness. Taste is roasted malt, some smoke, banana, yeast, and spices. Very creamy mouthfeel. All right.....I may need to drink some more to appreciate the slight differences that make it unique among the Weizens.

Picked up a six pack from Discount Liquors in Waukesha, WI. Pours a semi-hazy brown amber brew with an average beige head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of banana esters, chocolate, a hint of clove, roasted nuts and a touch of coffee. Taste is smooth, creamy with flavors of burnt malt with chocolate, banana and some mild spice. Finish is semi-sweet along with a nice chocolate and dark wheat malt aftertaste that slowly disappears.

12 oz. bottle - Poured dark brown with nice beige head. Aroma - cloves, incense and burnt chocolate. Flavor - alot of clove taste, some banana and burnt caramel. Palate - light/medium bodied with good carbonation. Spice on tongue with strange clove finish and aftertaste. Overall - not that bad for New Glarus, but still prefer big beers with higher ABV.

Bottle. Pours a murky dark brown color with a huge off white head. Aromas of bananas, roasted malt and cloves. Tastes of mocha, roasted malts, banana, and light cloves. A nice enjoyable different type of wheat beer.

Courtesy of Styles

Bottle: The aroma consists of banana, clove, chocolate, and roasted malt. It pours a cloudy brown with some faint orange highlights and a moderate beige head with good retention. The flavor starts with light banana and quickly turns to a moderate roasty finish with a hint of chocolate. There’s a definite wheat tanginess throughout. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel.

12 oz bottle courtesy of a request fulfilled by my girlfriend’s brother’s wife from their trip from Minneapolis to Chicago.. Hot damn! Pours a rich opaque dark brown pour, big light tannish head, bubbly, that sticks around well and fairly big, with good lacing. Aromas are some faint toastiness being complimented with strong banana and clove presence. Touch of creaminess and maybe chocolate and vanilla. Exciting! Initial is a good sessionable body, pushing some light darker malts with banana and clove, fruitiness, sweetness, and a touch of creaminess. Vanilla and faint chocolate come into the body, with light sweetness that still is quite sessionable. Finishes with minimal bitterness, roast and fruity banana work well but isn’t overbearing like some representatives of the style. Pretty great! Cheers!
