Expect this beer to pour the deapest black body topped by an opulent head of lip smacking foam. Roasted chocolate and toasted caramel notes brim over the top. Lavish spice aromas of clove and cinnamon are promoted naturally by the yeast we import especially for this most individual of brews.

12oz. bottle. Dark brown in color with a small tan head. Mildly smoky, chocolate malt aroma with a bit of cloves. Reminds me a little of Ramstein’s Winter Wheat Doppelbock in the aroma. Roasted chocolate malt flavor with some banana, cloves and a hint of a peaty smoke.

Rated at the 1/21/06 Indianapolis, IN gathering and courtesy of MI2CA. Tan medium sized head that mostly diminished, poor lacing, opaque, no visible carbonation, and a dark brown to near black hue. Roasty malt, chcolate, coffee and banana nose. Flavor was roasty malts, chocolate and spicy. Smooth, thin and dry palate.

Jan 06 Indy gathering. I think this was from MI2CA, Thanks. Pours a dark brown with little head. The aroma is roasted and sweet, but somewhat calm. Flavors of chocolate and deep roasted malts. Some coffee and more sweetness tell me that the flavor is more impressive than the aroma.

Sample from Jan 06 Indy gathering at BW3 downtown - Thanks to my Secret Santa - Aroma is a bit odd, like bubblegum and fabric softner (must be the clove) with some roasty malts thrown in. Pours black with a small head and decent lacing. Flavor is much better than aroma. Smokey and roasty, chocolate and carmel. Palate is clean and cooked. Interesting and good.

12 oz bottle, via 1FastSTi. Murky brown pour with a minimal head and low visible carbonation. Huge ester filled fruity aroma of bananas. Some wheat, rye, yeast, light chocolate, and toffee notes as well. Very nice balance between the earthy flavors of the wheat and rye and the fruity estery character imparted by the yeast. Bananas and yeast on the finish make you want to come back for more. Thick and chewy mouthfeel with classic Weizen lively carbonation on the tongue. I had no idea this was the highest rated Dunkelweizen on the site, but I must say I agree. The best I’ve had that I can remember.

12 oz bottle, thanks to footbalm for the trade, you rock! Pours ebony and opaque with a small tannish head that leaves virtually no lace. Aroma is rich and roasty, with bitter chocolate and coffee notes and a dark brown bread yeastiness, Flavor is also roasty and rich, more coffee, bit of molasses, carob, slight raisin and pungent clovey, gingery, peppery spice notes. Medium to full body, gentle carbonation, smooth and enjoyable.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Heemer77. Served in a lager glass at 53.5°. Pours dark reddish brown, just a few shades light of black with a one fingered head that dies down to a foam ring pretty quickly. The aroma is rich, roasty, chocolate, coffee, with milky notes and some holiday spice? Aromatic! The taste is roasty malt, bakers chocolate, and espresso initially with a dulce de leche sweetness midway and some nice fruit flavor (overripe bananas) and a bit of a roasty, slightly astringent finish. The mouthfeel is full. This is a tasty beer!

12oz bottle - Pours a very murky dark brown when viewed via a strong light. The head is fizzy, creamy, mediun tan and hangs in pretty long. Lacing is minimal at best. Aroma is mostly coffee and cloves with hints of caramel. Flavor was mostly coffee with hints of banana and wheat, however, once it warmed up a bit, notes of chocolate and roasted nuts came through as well. Mouthfeel is rich, full and a tad buttery. The finish is distinctly wheat & yeast and kind of dry. This is a very nice change of pace. Not a great beer but very dinkable and enjoyable.
