Commercial Description:
Expect this beer to pour the deapest black body topped by an opulent head of lip smacking foam. Roasted chocolate and toasted caramel notes brim over the top. Lavish spice aromas of clove and cinnamon are promoted naturally by the yeast we import especially for this most individual of brews.

Bottle. This was very tasty. Dark body and light feel. Has a very peppery smell and flavor to it. Nice roasted malt bite to it. Really like it.

Thanks to Secret Santa for this one! I had been wanting to try this again for years, the last time I had it was long before my Ratebeer days if I’m remembering correctly. Pours black, slight light tan head. Aroma is faintly roasty, a touch of smoke, and a bit of clove that reminds you that this is in fact a weizen at heart. Flavor has a definite wheat component with a faint bit of coffee, much less roast than the nose indicated. Yeast phenols were quite restrained, just a bit of clove to keep things interesting. Enjoyable, I sort of wish it had been pushed further though.

Bottle thanks to CanIHave4Beers. Thanks, Andy! Pours... black (surprise) with thinner head than most NG beers. Very roasty/toasty/smoky... veering from Dunkelweizen territory well into Schwarzland, I think. Smoke and grain and milder banana/clove/yeast. Slightly metallic. Not quite what I expected, but still very good.

bottle Black, with a thin head. Very wheat aroma, with spice. Cloves and smoke are the dominate flavors, finishing in a sickly wheat tang.

Bottle shared by juiceisloose @ otakuden’s Vero Beach Throwdown. Pours dark brown with light tan head. Smokey wheat aroma. Flavor is lightly smoked wheat, banana and clove. Medium body with lively carbonation and a dry finish.

Draft at The Old Fashioned, Madison. Deep brown-black color. Sweet and malty, with a very drinkable body and mouthfeel. Some very mild sandy hop balance. Somewhat straightforward Dunkel tastes, yet delightfully impressive.

Dark black beer with a thick sticky white head. Very creamy white head. The aroma is loaded with sweet banana, light coffee and cocoa as well as a bit of light spice. Some light bubble gum and light chocolate. the roastiness is quite prominent in here at least on the nose. Lightly tart with a bit of light tart spiciness. Wheaty and tart with a lingering roastiness. It’s okay, but I actually find the heavy roast to be a bit too much.

From bottle - pours the slightest shade short of pure black with a robust, thick, solid tan head which recedes very slowly. Aroma is sweet and malty with hints of coffee, caramel and wheat notes and a hint of spice. Flavor is full with lots of wheat and yeast, banana, clove, bubble gum, and an abundance of caramel malt. Also catching a bit of roasted coffee in here, but that is in the background...lots of the Dancing Man in here, but true to the Dunkel style. Palate is moderate and a bit high on the carbonation, but pleasant overall. Another solid effort from the folks in rural WI!
