Commercial Description:
Expect this beer to pour the deapest black body topped by an opulent head of lip smacking foam. Roasted chocolate and toasted caramel notes brim over the top. Lavish spice aromas of clove and cinnamon are promoted naturally by the yeast we import especially for this most individual of brews.

Almost perfectly black body. The head is tight with a light tan color. Rich caramel aroma with a little bit of coffee. There is also a little cinnamon spice. The taste is subtle caramel and a little bit of iced tea. There is also some light chocolate with a little bit of vanilla. Excellent beer. I appreciate that they have crafted a subtle dunkel that is still very interesting.

Beer pours an almost pure black color with a tan head with a nice lacing. The smell is is of coffee, clove, banana, and chocolate. The taste is the same as the smell, according to notes, it sticks to the tongue very well for a long lasting taste. It has a full bodied mouthfeel, and this one is definately a drinkable beer.

12 oz bottle 9/13/07: Deep brown w/ a thing, but lasting light beige head. The aroma was almost like a schwarzbier with a wheat twist. Wheat malt initially, but also lightly roasty and chocolate w a touch of clove yeast. Toasted malt shows up, but roast gets weaker as it warms. Wheat malt is the dominant flavor with a lightly roasted malt. Some tartness from both wheat and dark grains pops in and has a dry finish. Faint clove spice in and out as it may have aged out? A bit of a roasty aftertaste and well balance throughout. Medium body, medium CO2, smooth m/f. Nicely made beer and seems to be a good thirst quencher for a darker beer. I wish I had more!

Thanks to Hezron (I think) for this one. This was the most "weizen" dunkelweizen I think I’ve ever had. While definitely dark, with lots of roasted malt flavor coming through, this one had the pronounced banana/bubblegum flavor of a classic hefeweizen. I really appreciated the juxtaposition of the two aspects.

Very dark and thin bodied with tastes of spices, coffee, malt and a bunch of other stuff that I cant even begin to remember. Very strong alcoholic warming effect after the swallow.
