hezron (600), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA Oct 29, 2006 I was first in line for this at the New Glarus line at GTMW 2006. Poured by Dan Carey himself and it was a very generous pour. Aroma is loaded with major bourbon, buttery caramel, brown sugar. Rich and malty, but perhaps a little too much bourbon? Dark, cloudy mahogany brown with a thick, off-white head that lasted and lasted. Flavor is sweet, loaded with fruity, caramel and bourbon flavors and a touch of vanilla oak in the finish. One of the most intensely bourbon infused brews that I have ever tried but the chewy, dried fruit, malt backbone is there to back it up. Full body, thick and creamy but the alcohol and astringent help dry it out a little. I know I have too many bourbon brews in my top 10, but they taste so damn good. MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Aug 18, 2006 served for about a minute at great taste of the midwest.. thank god for line cutting.
Poured a coppery brown color quite murky w/ nearly no head.
Smells of toasted carmels some dark fruits hints of bourbon maybe a touch of tobaccoo (or maybe someone lit up near me.) This stuff smelled good, although I think I liked the regular eisbock aroma better. Palate was full and creamy. Flavor had a very well blended taste some light tartness in the finish after a big carmel, chocolate, bourbon syruppy tastking front there were some hints of a leathery wood as well and a light spice. Very well done. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 17, 2006 Updated: Jun 9, 20072006 GTMW. Huge thanks to Dan for putting this together oh so many years ago, and to Nate for sharing this treat.
Murky brown body, light tan/off-white head. Amazingly unique peppery A-1 steak and sweet bourbon. Very old-seeming and blended aroma. Flavor has A-1 again, cask, chocolate, sour brown hints, some pepper, aged caramel.
